Nexus vs. Komplete 8

So with Black Friday coming up, I've got a bit of cash for some much-needed plugins. I've done a bit of research on both Komplete 8 and Nexus, and both seem to be extremely versatile and capable of many great things. Keeping in mind that the price difference won't really be a factor (Nexus will probably not go on sale and remain at $300 and Komplete 8 is going for $400 on Black Friday), which would you personally recommend?

Komplete 8 without question. Nexus is a cool ROMpler with decent sounds, but what you get for 400$ from Komplete is head and shoulders above what nexus offers for 300$. If you want an exceptional ROMpler, check out Omnisphere. Although I'd still get Komplete over the both of them

Nexus is a bank of a few sounds, Komplete is limitless possibilities so as far as value for money goes komplete would be an absolute no brainer. That said if nexus might provide the out of the box sound set that you need to get creative it might be the one for you but as far as stats and options go komplete is a million miles ahead of nexus.

Komplete 8 includes a shit ton of great things that will help in many ways.

Honestly, I'd go Komplete 8. Nexus is cool for some techno leads or whatever, but again, it's not very customization.

I agree that Komplete 8 is the best solution here for sure, but Nexus gets a bit of a hard time being seen as 'just' a presets player.
Whilst obviously it's attraction is the access to lots of sounds that can be used out of the box, it really does have lots of options for really manipulating and making distinct sounds unlike the original patch, using only internal options. But ultimately, yes, it all starts from a preset - but is this really that bad?
The problem is that the interface for these manipulation options is very fiddly I find (most of the best bits to tweak are within the cramped central display menu and it's various tabs), but it's very powerful.
I've had quite a lot of success layering multiple patches and really twisting them into something new - the main benefit being the quality of the original source sounds it provides - which is fundamental to the big and full sound craved today.
It's also great for when you just need a bit of inspiration and can find something interesting (and of high quality) quickly.

Komplete 8 gives you WAY more options and I would still say go with that, but I almost think it gives too many options - I have Komplete 6 and I probably only use 2 plugs regularly.

Just to be annoying, I would advise you look at Camel Audio Alchemy One of the most equipped synths out there, an equally accomplished sampler (mixing the two together is fun!) and also comes with big libraries of sounds if you just want to tweak preset from time to time. Limiting yourself to only using a few tools is usually a way better way to continually improve yours skills and build up your own style / bank of sounds you can rely on.

Nexus can't even compete with Camel Audio Alchemy or Komplete.
It doesn't have the synthesis capabilities that synths have.
Take omnisphere for example which is a fully functional rompler synthesizer with multiple synthesis methods.
Nexus is an in the box rompler with editable effects and arpeggiator.
It will most definitely have limits and will have a very short life expectancy in the larger scheme of things.
Understanding of course that all of it's built in sounds were once synthesized so why not rather create the source.

Funny story, I just heard of a kid at my school who bought Dubturbo because he "wants to just make big drops". I lol'd.

Yeah, looking back and listening through the audio demos of both, I see Komplete 8 as the clear choice.

Komplete will win any day.
