Good (once) banned films

Post by apecore » Mon Dec 10, 2012 8:32 pm

I've just re-watched 'The Devils' and 'Cannibal Holocaust', and just wondered if anyone else has any suggestions?

This isn't something I'd recommend personally. I see it the same way as I see stuff like Men Behind The Sun.

I haven't seen Men Behind The Sun, but after reading a synopsis on IMDB I'd probably agree. It is a well disturbing film, but I think it portrays an abuse of power quite universally, be it izans or any other wankers.

I don't think it was ever banned but man bites dog is also of a similar strain as cannible holocaust.
It's also my choice for one of the few that has some redemable value.
To clarify one of my best friends was a film student and rather into a lot of these films.
I wouldn't recommend them as well.

It's worth a watch at least but there's a few questionable scenes, I wont drop any spoilers, you can see the scenes in question on youtube I'm sure. There's three semi sequels as well, Laboratory of the Devil, Narrow Escape and Black Sun: The Nanking Massacre.

"Top officers of Unit 731 were not prosecuted for war crimes after the war, in exchange for turning over the results of their research to the Allies. They were also reportedly given responsible positions in Japan's pharmaceutical industry, medical schools and health ministry" good times... didn't realise Black Sun was in that series, dark film. Thanks for all your help, now to lose my mind some
