Personally, I don't think they're bad tunes at all. I just wish they were taken out of the mixtape-esque format, given the room to develop on their own. It just feels rather weak, structurally if that makes any sense.

Kindred on the other hand was sequenced in a similar way, but the tracks inside the 2 tracks were longer and flowed together better. It also helps that Ashtray Wasp was just magical.

What makes Burial good? Emotions coming through the music to catch you. And etc.. etc.. you know.
Street Halo, check. Kindred, double check.

Truant/Rough Sleeper
If I just listen to this, excellent tracks, okay. But I don't feel that special atmosphere and basically I just listen to it and that's it. You can say that the bass is phenomenal and here and here this is good and heavy.
It's just can't take me to that "Burial world", although you can tell that this is Burial and the sound is Burial.
One more time, good tunes, fantastic tracks to listen to.

Fucjing agreed. You guys should be thankful he's even releasing anything at all.

As for the sound, I'm in love with Rough Sleeper, especially the vocals. Definitely puts me in the Burial world. I like how it sounds more like a sunset song rather than a rainy day song like most of his work. It has so much warmth. I haven't heard both tracks in their entirety though because I would rather wait to hear it on vinyl but I listened to a lot and I am very pleased with this release. I hope he makes a full album soon, but it's nothing to be impatient over. He will make it when he's ready. It probably sucks to have a fan base like us, with our dynamic.

No, if you scroll back you'll see that you could listen the whole stuff at bleep. Then uploaded it to youtube, too.

this is just Burial being in his own super league again, not making me feel as much as Kindred I will admit though

Regardless of what I personally think, I find it heart-warming that this release instantly makes a lot of peoples (end of) year all the more special. And that's me being sincere on here for a change. Burial has that power in his productions and not many producers can still do that even after 7 years.

I'm not complaining by the way, I just finished compiling a shortlist for my blog with best Singles/EP's and guess who's in the top three AGAIN (albeit with Kindred, that one just instantly clicked with me like the albums and early EP's).
I will get this certainly, but now I can rest easy that I can push it back a few places on the ABSOLUTELY NEED TO GET LIST SCRAPING TOGETHER THE LAST PENNY.

On a sidenote: I stated earlier that I find these tracks über dance-floor for Burial, Boomkat wholeheartedly disagrees with me. Any one care to share their opinion on that?

I agree with you, particularly the A side, this start of the A side makes me dance even though it shouldn't.

In an old Burial interview he talked of listening to old mix tapes his brother would bring back from raves, this EP for me is Burial recreating those mix tapes in his own way, the sort of hearing tunes but not really hearing them. The A side to this ends in this sort of garage infused dark mix tape business.

and holy shit the end of the B side is beautiful.

People having a healthy discussion about a new release is automatically moaning on DSF though.

The moaners are people who keep asking about Feral Witchchild, that's moaning (no offence to any one who actually asked in this thread, I have no problems with that at all, just wanted to put into context).

Well, many people would like to see Feral Witchchild, Stairwell, Speedball etc released; maybe more than new material. Don't see anything wrong with that.

Yeah I immediately started bobbin my head to it. I think it all sounds amazing. I instantly like it. I don't know how Burial does it, but he builds incredible tunes and textures. I get the feeling i'll be listening to this release for a long time, hearing the Boomkat samples, sounds like there is a ton to absorb.
I guess i'm just a sucker for white noise and crackles, but hands down, Burial implements it the best. And the synth that comes in Truant reminds me of the one zomby ussed in test me for a reason
I found a way to get piece of mind for years and left the hell alone, turn a deaf ear to the cellular phone
