DEEPER family! This Tuesday marks the 8th edition of our little dubstep weekly that could. In the waning weeks of summer, three friends sat down to lament the fact that the once-vibrant NYC dubstep scene, save for the pockets of absolute brilliance, was in danger of becoming trapped in a grimey garage of post-fratstep. We knew all these amazing, dedicated heads from many disparate scenes, and we had the perfect intimate venue in the middle of the city, so we took a chance with the idea of connecting these threads together; to do our part to provide a place where those who shared our love for the roots -- for 'bass, pace and space' -- could congregate, commiserate, and cross-pollinate. BUILD. Because if not in New York City, then fucking where?
In October, DEEPER was born, and ten weeks, one hurricane, and countless noise complaints later, we are still here and thriving. We've brewed you the finest punches, spun you the deepest dubs, and even partnered with Deep Space to bring over 30 of you out as VIPs to hear one of the most memorable sets in recent memory on that glorious Funktion-One sound system. And we're just getting started. Looking around at our brethren and sistren throwing mind-boggling arrays of heavy events, we're convinced that 2013 will be known as the NY Bass Renaissance, and DEEPER will keep holding it down in the middle of the maelstrom. It's truly an exciting time to be a deep head in the most dynamic city on the planet.
So join us Tuesday for the final edition of DEEPER this calendar year. For this one we've got a very special guest whose been right there in the thick of it for many a New York minute. He's shared the stage with FaltyDL, Braille, Dubbel Dutch, Rizzla, Percussion Lab, Knomad, Photek, Flosstradamus, LE1F, Still Life and Kastle -- and that's just this year. He also hosts two weekly parties of his own in Manhattan: GO DEEP Wednesdays and BURN Sundays. And he's got a slew of deep tricks up his sleeve to jingle your lower bells and keep your sub cravings at bay until our triumphant return in January.
