Dancehall??

Post by jackieboi » Tue Aug 14, 2007 3:59 pm

Folk keep tellin me that dancehall is actually pretty good - as far as im concerned its people like Sean Paul and Beanie Man making r n b with jamaican accents.

However i would love to be proved wrong as i fucking love ragga style vocals, anyone got any recommendations for me as im going to be at work tomorrow where we have a superfast connection, emule and about 70 terrabytes of space for me to abuse.

Ye....there s a LOT of shit around, I didn t come across more than a handfull releases of the last 4-5 yrs I liked...
But, there s a lot of amazing stuff, for me especially from the early digital era and there s been a lot in the 90ies & early 00s as well....you just have to dig for them... a good start for some of the gritttier riddims: http://hardwax.com/06757/

http://dancehallreggae.com/forum/index.php check the pages there always plenty of mixes and soundclash. An aquired taste but you might love it.Rodigan clashes are always easy on the ear. Also check out http://www.clashes-r-us.com/clashes.php you have to register but its well worth it.
Artists wise check out Sizzla,Assasin,Richie Spice,Buju and Movado.Loads of good stuff about. But stop the leaching open up you wallet and support the artists.
