Posted my latest WIP in the feedback thread when someone made me realize I made a track that sounds like a shitty version of a megalodon tune. Id heard of megalodon but never heard this tune before.
So now, basically I feel dumb, and not even like finishing the tune just because I do NOT want to feel like I bit off someones tune.
How do you guys feel about sounding like someone else? Is it a good thing? Is it bad?

I think the key to biting is to bit as many people as possible; that's the closest to originality you'll ever get. And bite from shit that isn't related to the genre you produce; that blows people's minds.
Do you say zerbaman? Or do you say zebraman? Soundcloud
7 year old BROstep/Trapstep/Chillstep producer from India. Young. Talented. 7 Years Old. Super skilled for age. Signed to NOW22. Biography written in 3rd person on soundcloud OBVI. The next Skrillex. Wait I don't even like him anymore LOL. Super talented. Only 6 years old.
Try to finish the tune you would without prior knowledge of the Megalodon tune and whatever comes out of it is yours.
Everyone starts out sounding like someone else... and then they sound like a bunch of people... and then their own touch slowly starts seeping in. It's part of the whole process of being a producer.
To OP: maybe you didn't try to straight up imitate this dude, but you're both probably taking direct influence from the same guys from the same genre, using the same techniques and the same plugins with pretty much the same ideas. What do you expect? Listen to jazz and other non-electronic shit for 6 hours straight THEN go make dubstep.
You shoulda played it off cool like "...ya I ghost produce for him."
Seriously though, that is a pretty crushing feeling, but keep on with it and either ignore it and do what you were planning on doing or take note of what you don't like in his track and make an effort to do what you think sounds even better.

really felt your album on bandcamp. just wanted to get that out. if i wasnt broke as fuck i would buy it but yeah def keep up the good work
it sucks to have that happen
or having an idea, not finding the time to make it happen and suddenly someone else has done it
but to me it shows that i was taking shortcuts/stereotypical thinking, that my inspiration was the same as someone else from across the globe. so everytime that happens i reassess my influences and creative process.

in terms of the fact that it's dubstep and you have a similar sound to your bassline, it's similar. But dude there is a lot of stuff that sounds like that. Yours is yours! Finish it and it fits in with those kinds of songs for dj's to play with.
