it's better than that noisy shit
maybe he's growing up
but, the poor bloke;
he once won a popularity contest
but now can only lose
as he inevitably begins to understand how,
in ignorance,
he trashed a sound...

just listen to those dinky synths he runs under the arpeggios
trying to emulate Burial garage.
As Wolf says, soulless

but who knows,
if he keeps trying
he may, in old age,
redeem himself
and we may be big enough to forgive him
(if he distributes his earnings to the poor, say)

After all, things had to change for the worse
cos things were so good for awhile
& somebody had to be the agent for the decline
so, in a way, Skleenex, got the tough gig

but I doubt I'll ever be good-hearted enough to think of him as anything but a posing wanker

Nothing to forgive. If he wrote a good song, that would be that.

Really hate to bump this but...

When I first heard Leaving it didn't remind me of Burial, it reminded me immediately of that "Unknown" character that had a bit of hype a few months ago with the mediocre Burial-esque sound

Anyone remember the obviously manufactured hype?

http://www.mintmagazine.co.uk/music/unknown-001/

http://www.xlr8r.com/mp3/2012/10/unknown

Anyone remember the infamous RA review?

http://www.residentadvisor.net/review-v ... x?id=11972

Some more things...

http://boomkat.com/vinyl/620415-unknown-001-004

Sombody's playing their cards close to their chest here. Apparently lauded by Ellie Goulding (is that a good thing?) and attributed to everyone from Skrillex to Burial (it's quite obviously neither) this 2nd anonymous 12" flits between the shadows of Akkord, Four Tet, and Phaeleh, measuredly taking in lumpy, maudlin slow-house on 'A1 #001', "spooky" garage on 'A2 #002', windswept and noirish 2-step on 'B1 #003' and the dreamier moods of 'B2 #004' made to hit hard on the Funktion One's you just hired in for your bro-off.

'Unknown' anonymously contacted lots of blogs a while back, to introduce their new 'hush hush' side project. It could be a hoax of course, but that didn't stop everybody from here to Timbuktu (including Ellie Goulding) raving about it. In fact it's the latter's involvement that's led to speculation that it's actually the work of her recent beau, Skrillex. Who knows for sure, but what isn't in doubt is the quality of the music. #001 is a slow tropical affair, with a constant thumping kick and deep-in-the-Amazon atmospherics. Elsewhere we have the warped R&G(litch) of #002 (complete with 'ethereal' female vocals, wink wink) and the Actress-aping weirdness of #004.

Maybe I'm looking too deep into this. Who knows. The "Leaving" song is overproduced shite though, just like the Unknown EP.

nah i think youre definitely right. the whole ellie goulding thing just seals the deal

both the unknown stuff and leaving sound incredibly canned and uninspired (and blatantly ripping off burial). like someone downloaded a pack called "baby's first future garage sample/vox/preset pack"

i think its cool he's come to ruin this sound with both his rebore production efforts and influx of fans. i only say this because the elitism that revolves around the burial, four tet, jamie xx etc sound is as cringeworthy as the stnuc who love the current tear-out movement.

who knows, skrilly keeps putting out more tunes like these - internet heads compare it to burial and then boom...

Forthcoming: Skrillex - 1/2

Hey guys, there is a new Skrillex song. Can we pleaqe have this thread only about the track Leaving and move the rest to the prostep thread? Obv. leaving is Futuri garage and so warrants its own thread.
