Tribute to Hotline Miami and its amazing soudtrack...I had a lot of trouble getting the wet and dry elements to sit well together, I hope it's not too obvious.

Re: Monowàn - Hotline Miami (retro electro ?)
Track is quite quiet, and takes a long time to get going...the intro feels particularly empty and devoid of any character until the bass noises arrive around 45s.
Drum beat is pretty ploddy as well, just a constant thud thud without any real character or progression to things...tune overall doesn't really grab the listener or develop into anything over it's running time.

Re: Monowàn - Hotline Miami (retro electro ?)
Thank you for being honest. It's weird that it sounds so quiet, I mixed it down properly, did a self master and tried to bring it to max volume leaving a little headroom...maybe the background hiss and reverb drains too much energy ? Too much saturation on everything ?
I don't know, I liked that slow intro, I thought the spring reverb and crackles set the mood...guess I can't trust my ears.
Your comment about the drums are what gets me down the most. I mean, yes there's a constant 4x4 but also shuffling hats and snares then rolling claps, ghost notes, velocity/panning changes, and all that registers is "thud thud" ?
