i mean yeah, something like an ar-15 would probably be worse than handguns, but arent we talking about hunting rifles though (in the context of being able to have two handguns at home but having to check out hunting rifles)? you dont need an ar-15 to hunt

definitely true, but most of these shootings tend to be an individual entering a crowded area and shooting at a large volume of people at relatively close range... and in that situation i imagine 2 handguns being far more dangerous, no?

yes you CAN get semi-auto hunting rifles, but thats besides the point. in this same senario one could also have 30 round high-cap mags at their disposal.

Some info I picked up during criminology classes, penal law classes and from living in constant contact with favelas since I was born:

.22 or .11 aren't even for self defense, I had a case study where a guy got shot by someone who was centimeters away. Took 7 bullets to the chest and walked away, alive. Those kind of weapons (v.g rifles) are for battlefield usage. The bullets go straight through your body, that's why they use those around here in the favelas for cover fire to stop the police from going up hill. Most of the criminals casualties during confrontations with the police are from executions performed with .38 revolvers after being crippled or taken down by a M4 shot. I can see why someone would need to walk around with a concealed handgun or revolver during their work, but I fail to see when a rifle or a machine gun is needed by a civilian.

i just use my M203 grenade launcher on my AR-15 to go hunting. its kind of like throwing dynamite in a lake and seeing what floats to the top.
