Wise Old King H - Wreckoning - Heavy Electro-Step WIP

Post by Wise_L » Tue Jan 08, 2013 1:22 pm

Hey people,

Does this sound any good to you? Im looking for production tips or any thoughts on aspects of the track that stand out to you ( good or bad) so i can get a bit of an outside perspective on it! I realise im a long way aways from a professional sound but i think i've been making a bit of progress over the last few months - this producing thing can be a bit like one step forwards two steps back sometimes but recently things have been falling into place a bit better - hopefully my new track reflects this, but thats for you to decide!!

Soundcloud

thanks in advance for any replies =)

The kick is a bit on the quiet side, having trouble picking it out in the mix.

Thanks for the reply! ill boost the kick, i think the higher frequency layer of it does needs to be louder. Out of interest wub what frequency ranges (roughly) do u use for your kick layers if u dont mind me asking ?

Depends on the other elements in the tune as to what space the kick occupies.

Cool well i should b able to figure it out , wasnt sure if there was a general 'low kick around 150hz, higher kick around 250 hz ' sort of rule, although as u say i guess each tracks different so will have different overlaps/clashes with the kick. Guess i was hoping for a quick easy way when i should kno by now that production is neither quick or easy! =)

I feel like the low notes that make up the melody don't have enough bass behind them, also the drum and plates are a bit too weak sounding, add some more "attack" to them. Nice base for a song tho :) keep it up.
