My setup is basic and I'm looking to expand.

As the title says, I'm trying to expand my equipment and I'm wondering what are some of the things you guys think are must haves. Right now, all I have is a MacBook Pro (Mid-2010) with the i7 processor, a M-Audio Trigger finger (which I got before Skrillex, I might add!) two monitors (a pair of cheap, old Sonys), a 8 channel mixer, and a M-Audio FastTrack Pro. I also use Ableton and Logic Studio with Massive, FM8, Absynth, and the Waves collection. Pretty basic but I can keep up with the best of them. I really want to know what you guys think are definitely necessary for a home studio setup.

A little background on me, I'm pretty musical. Can play a bunch of instruments. I was thinking about getting an electronic drum kit and MIDI it with a kit in which ever DAW I was using. I know a bunch of music theory. Been studying for over 7 years now. I'm big into electronic music. I.e. trance, techno, dubstep, house, you get the drift. I don't want a huge setup but a nice synth would be nice, maybe some type of audio processor, better monitors, and some type of controller. Tell me what ya think!

What interests you the most? What I'd consider invaluable is a good preamp, and some good condenser mics along with some dynamics as well. Control surfaces are always nice, tube and analog hardware is always fun, multiple pairs of monitors or headphones is useful for cross checking your mixes, hardware synths, DI box if you're a guitar or bass player, etc etc.

That's pretty solid set up and a lot more than many have. Maybe a another set of decent monitors or headphones would be a good addition. Something like a Nord Rack would be pretty versatile or a Virus desktop. If you are a drummer an electronic kit to play in beats with seems like a pretty smart move to me. Considering your setup most of what you mention is more than what I consider necessary for a home EDM studio.

Acoustic treatment might be something to consider as well.

I just love all electronic music. I don't really have one that interests me most.

Well, I just point and click a lot and I wanted to find some type of setup that would limit my point and click. It gets tiring after awhile. Haha. I've had the idea of using an electronic kit for awhile but never really thought it was practical.
