both sides are not easy to mix (I find the b side harder)

on dance till I just skip to where the strange melody comes in, then it's easier but you only have like 8 bars to adjust

pinch - step to it (ft. rudey lee) ---- this one is tough. you can cut it out before dropping it into a new one... but what tune? i think this track is a perfect intro to a set, just a question of what to drop next (other than another pinch track) - anyone got any suggestions?

just remembered as well, i've always found 16bit - PCP hard to mix. you can cut the other tune out on the last half of PCP's intro so it builds up nicely, but i've never ever been able to blend it in with another track!

EDIT: found a track! pinch - step to it works nicely into cessman - ghurka :corndance:

ashtray wasp - it changes tempo throughout or at least it seems like it does. can't get it to stay in time for more than 15 secs lool. either that or the kicks are all off the grid, i wouldn't be surprised since it's burial.

love that rudey lee track, can't remember what i used to mix it with but i don't remember having any problems.
i always find if the tune drops off beat or something or its a hard intro to mix i'll just find the first beat and go from there.
to be honest i find most dubstep easy to mix. The 1 producer where i had trouble mixing before that i think i stated before was wookie. all his tunes on the album are well fucking hard to mix from the start and i used to stress like a bitch. still tho wookie is the best and my next mix will include alot from him.

naw timing is fine on the tune and that, it's just a question of what tune step to it blends with. found most tracks weren't subtle enough

haven't bought it yet or tried mixing with it but the last Mickey Pearce release sounds like it's going to be pretty difficult to mix

I dunno whether the intro beat is weird meaning you end up following it in the incorrect way, or whether it just drops a beat late

Ha! Love this thread!!! The Scientist jams are hard cuz they are WAY dubbed out - lots of weirdness and drop outs

Glad to see some truly tricky ones -

Peverelist - Roll With The Punches - All the delay on the melody makes it a bit tricky..but my 2 cents is that you can actually very faintly here beats '2' and '4' given to you via a small percussive kind of clap in the beginning, so mixing to the backbeat is a good route.

I gotta break out Pearson Sound - Clutch and remember how I learned it - but that was a stumper. Not to boast or some shit, but I'm a percussion music major, so that tune had me by the balls for a bit trying to figure it out. It's actually quite genius how it's written - incredibly unique but full of very danceable grooves imo - I'll throw my nerdy ass explanation of it up tmmrw if I remember...a bit late and weird right now..heh

Simple ones to hear, but there's some Blawan tunes like 'Getting Me Down' that alway seem to drift and mix odd to me - I'm usually pretty on point when it comes to four on the floor based stuff, but his percussion throws me I guess - anyway - good shit - Good to have a challenge. Also - James Holden tunes - fucked records. Read once he intentionally made them hard to mix to get rid of shit DJ's playing his tunes

Trigger PCP at the chorus to Skeng. Works very well.

Queue any hard hitting track with a 16 bar intro at "you don't want so see man when me get evil then".

Glad to hear Pev can't mix his own tunes, either.

But that being said, what do you mix into The Grind? I feel like it deploys some really strong energy on the floor, people all around feeling it. Quite ravey. Could anyone recommend some pev-techy steppers that would keep the energy going?

Also, I started to mix by snare, since I became tired of fucking up some mixes because the monitors in some clubs are utter crap.

I rarely even bother trying to mix in a Pev tune as I can never find a tune to mix into it. Even if you pull an ok mix, the next tune's still gonna seem like shit in comparison.
