Does anyone else find Ambiance is a bit too boxy sounding on snares? Love it for pads etc but with snares I cant get rid of that ""recorded in bathroom" type feel......

Yeah, Space Designer....it's actually amazing it's stock with Logic, especially since there are tons of awesome, free impulse responses out there to try out. If you're not running Logic, you can get Altiverb which does the same thing.

SIR that I mentioned is also a very good impulse response player.

I love it, but the setup in my studio is a little convoluted as it's not directly patched in, so at the moment I'm bouncing loops, running them through the reverb then recording them back in...takes a bit of time.
