Putting up tunes while submitting them to labels

Post by JoeBeOne » Tue Jan 15, 2013 2:50 am

Hello out there in dubstep world and other tings!

I've had conflicting info re: putting up tunes online, like Sound-cloud Youtube ect., While trying to send the same tunes to labels for singing consideration .Is that a No,? No,?

Thanks in advance!

Most labels want you to share that track with them on Soundcloud. They have to listen to it somehow. There's a post on here about how to send tunes to labels. Check it out.

you can upload to soundcloud but keep it private and send them the private links.

I don't really mind but i do think its a good idea not to give the tune away to a-z to dj's, youtube channels basically keep the tune non-public.
Everyone likes new and exclusive tunes - when artists have tunes that everyone's heard, played and blogged about months before the release date it limits the impact of a 'new' release

A couple of label owners I've spoken to say they want anything submitted to them to be locked down. If you're serious about chasing a label, I would definitely not recommend a public upload.
Melodic deepness from my mind.

Just ask the label if they mind you uploading it. Radio rips are probably fine so if a DJ has played your tune, rip it and use that. Or do a mix yourself with it in.

don't do it. put up short mixes with the tune in it, but dont publicly put up unsigned or clips of the tunes, that you want considered for a specific label on the net. targeting specific labels is everything. target key radio dj's, and give them 1-3 of your tunes they would more than likely play on their show. dont give them bullshit, give them your best work.

instead of giving out cdr's to dj's, give them small usb flash drives. a dj on an international tour, with several dates, isnt likely to lug around a stack of cdr's given to him at a tour stop. he/she's travelling as light as possible. don't be that guy!
