Good vinyl shops in Berlin?
Hello
Simple question. As i'm addicted to buying vinyl, I wondered what good vinyl shops in Berlin I have to pay a visit for shure.
Yes I googled...I found 14 vinyl shops in Berlin! As I have not the time to visit them all, I would like to know from the Germans which ones are good. Especially dubstep of course, and some bits of hiphop, reggae and D&B.
I'm leaving next week for some citytrippin to Berlin.
Thx for any help.

hardwax is probably my fav record store in berlin. great selection (not only in dubstep) and usually up to date.
http://hardwax.com/contact/
you have to walk through something that looks like somebody's backyard and up a good amount of stairs to get there but it's totally worth it.

hardwax. i've heard oye is good but i've never been. i live down the road from spacehall; they're quite big and have quite a good selection (their techno back catalogue area is huge) but IMHO not enough selectivity. (hardwax is at the other end of the spectrum -- often i feel they don't buy in enough stuff but it's usually quality.) spacehall is also about 50 cents to a euro more expensive than other stores for new stuff, and a complete ripoff for anything out of print (was looking through some UR records the other day and found that one-sided belgian resistance 12" on sale for 30 euros - looked it up on discogs later and found it for 7).
btw - lots of people seem to think hardwax is cold and snobbish but i haven't found that to be the case at all. the guys are generally really friendly and happy to pull out a stack of recommendations for you if it's not too busy. they know what they like, though, and that's basically all they stock, so i wouldn't bother if you're looking for brostep or trendy tech-house.

Hardwax is pure awesomeness... Honestly one of my favorite record stores in the world. You need to check this out, and don't be afraid to go searching for other electronic music than dubstep - Their stock is amazing. Big up Hardwax - Check it out!

Yep Hard Wax is where it's at......after all it's the home of Basic Channel/Rhythm & Sound!!!
When i visited Berlin a few years back Hard Wax was the first place I headed for.......
After much searching I finally found the killer record store Hard Wax to satisfy my needs
First I found the Hard Wax sign.............

I then walk through the tunnel and see a strange abandoned looking building....

I walk up to the door and see a Hard Wax sign above the doorway so it's definately the right place..........

I then head up 3 floors................

I then come to an open door...........

I then walk through the door and see a poster for an amazing night on Fri 10th......sadly it's the day I leave and it features a few of my fav produers such as Scuba and Mala not to mention Loefah and Appleblim!

I then take a few more steps and.......BOOM!!!! Records galore!!!!

they've changed their sorting system now. everything is just USA/Euro/UK, by label.

thought hardwax was really good and teh guys were really nice. was a right bastard to find though.
also if you listen to something and you arent gonna buy it dont put it back on the shelf, there's a special box to put it in and the staff will sort it. iof you dont then you will be treated like a tit as someone i know found out.

Those pictures of hard wax make it look excellent, and the sub:stance night looked fire. I've always thought I'd like to move to berlin and although only one shop, it's little things like this that are tempting.

People still suggest Hardwax? Going there with my class in March.

if you're into dub & techno hardwax is the place to be.150Grams wrote:People still suggest Hardwax? Going there with my class in March.
spacehall has some very good back catalogue and overall more vinyls in the drum & bass / dubstep category.
my favourite shop is this one: https://oye-records.com/

Hardwax is a very cool shop, although I thought they would be more friendly (like most people say), or maybe they didn't liked my face or something. I bought for about € 150,00 at least over there, they can give you at least a smile or something... Expect more UK Bass, certainly no filth stuff there (luckily hehe). More Hyperdub - Hotflush - Hessle audio kind of music.
Spacehall has one of the biggest dubstepcollections I ever saw

Re: Good vinyl shops in Berlin?
that's how they treat everyone there that isn't part of the "crew".stonecrazy wrote:Hardwax is a very cool shop, although I thought they would be more friendly (like most people say), or maybe they didn't liked my face or something. hardwax, oye and spacehall are all great.
If you arent looking for the record store experience and know exaclty what you need and cannot find it i would recommend looking at www.hhv.de and pick up your order on the next day at their store.
great to see that everybody has so much love for our capital.
have fun

Re: Good vinyl shops in Berlin?
they moved the dubstep section into the corner of the huge "techno hall" couple months ago and I have the impression that there's less dubstep now. the dnb section is still huge tho150Grams wrote:This Spacehall shop, they have classics ye?
hardwax is great, i've been there couple times and always been treated nicely. dont expect smiles and giggles, just tell em what you look for and they pull out a huge stack of records. and while you're listening they keep coming back and bring more and more vinyl
