The many faces of Phrex
Berne-based DJ and producer Phrex has plenty of things on the go at once. But his many faces always have a common ground: Starting from his basic musical material called Dubstep and Bassmusic he easily nurture a set into house and techno. On its cutting point, Phrex can leed the music into solid grooves as well as into crispy Electronica.
For the third issue of the Club d’Essai-Mixtapes, Phrex has completed a 2.5h-Tape, what makes us actually call it a double tape. It’s a vinyl and acetate only mix of true oldschool nature. Having Roots Dub as a starter (Burning Spears) it leads to Autechre and Shed. Latest when Wendy Carlos (theme of Clockwork Orange) drops in, one may realize that Phrex is a true crate-digger, not fearing any borders. Including own production, Phrex has made a perfect travel companion. From here to he moon, please. One-Way.
