Re: How To Make This Sound - January 2013
^Thanks! Exactly what I was looking for! And ironically I'm asking a question about pads too.
In this tune, very beginning, how does one go about making pads like this (in massive). Like I have no clue what wavetable to use and how to process it to sound soft like that:
Also in the drop in this tune, what are some good tips to keep in mind when layering pads and leads like this to have that ambient vibe to them?

Re: Any tips on how to make a tight bass/synth
To me it sounds like a few synths layered.. could well be wrong though. IMO i'd say because his subbass, bass, and then then higher frequency buzz all has it's own place in the frequency spectrum making it sound tight.. think EQing will be an answer to making it a bit tighter.
What synth have you used? If Massive have a play around with the voicing.. hope this helps.

D00FY is right. Layers are key to this sound. One tip for layering, is to take the patch that you are using, and just duplicate it. Then just tweak certain parameters slightly. Layer with sub bass and an arpeggiated synth.
Re: Type of effect used
What effect?
Delta Heavy did a masterclass for either CM or FM, might help you out.

It's limited to fucking bits, maybe that's it?

Delta Heavy - Get By Question
Hello everyone! This is my first post and it's about the track "Get By" produced by Delta Heavy. I love the beginning melody and would like to know what kind of instrument was used. Even better would be if someone knew a "how-to" that would help me produce this sound? I'm really new to production, but I do have some good basic knowledge of how to run Ableton. Thanks in advance for any help!

So what your saying is i duplicate the main synth and split it up into frequencies?123kidd wrote:D00FY is right. Layers are key to this sound. Re: Any tips on how to make a tight bass/synth
Main lead in that song has a high pitched detuned multiple saws / squares as the high end layer, make sure to turn the number of voices and spread up when messing with the unisono. The mid high layer is one of those massive awful wavetables that sound like a moisty fart. Carbon, Chrome and Scrapyard come to mind. It's equally wide but only slightly detuned. Mid low layer is a mono saturated sine. Sub layer is just a sine. Saturate and compress it as a whole to gel stuff together and send it to a small decay / room size reverb, maybe a bit of digital delay, just make sure it's short.ShfeKrylon wrote:So what your saying is i duplicate the main synth and split it up into frequencies?123kidd wrote:D00FY is right. I still don't know what "effect" you're talking about btw.
Re: Delta Heavy - Get By Question
Pretty standard house "pluck" with some lowend, you can make them in most synths and there's hundred of tutorials out there.
