Congrats on the crack money! :h: Lovely crack.

I've gone from "Looking like I'm not getting paid this month and might lose my job" to "Looking like I am getting paid a little late this month and still might lose my job".

In the context of the week I've had, this is ground to be happy indeed. Fucking recession.

@ LAZE: cool mate, I'm sure you well deserve it

and it's been a lot harder pretending to be the Belgian Genevieve character
(when all I know about Belgium is that my WW1 ancestor beat up a local farmer for abusing his horse)
than it would've been trying to imagine Mugabe, with his propper sentences and all.

I told my boss I was going to have to leave for my traveling yesterday and instead of saying Ok, She is going to try and get sorted as some kind of career break.
Means I get paid twice while im out in Asia as I will use annual leave for some of it, come back to a job and then two weeks later I have Glastonbury off!
Good week for hospital workers :h:

Cheers mate. Bit of a shit week all told... company went to the wall on Monday night and sacked 300-odd people 2 days short of payday, withholding their salary and offering no redundancy payments. I'm one of the actually profitable people in the company, so the administrators have said they're going to pay me and keep me on, but I haven't seen shit yet.

Rent and bills came out today so if it doesn't come soon, I'm on supernoodles and savings... and I'm taking the guitar out to the streets on Sunday.

Thanks sd5. It is hilarious, you're right. I absolutely adore not knowing how I'm going to pay next month's rent and watching people I've worked with for 5 years get laid off without money to feed their kids. When is considering myself deprived supposed to start feeling cool?

Dutch
fuck, that's where I went wrong
I wasn't being tall enough.

@ magma: I wasn't referring to your coworkers...I know you're empathic and would worry for them
but you...man, pretend to feel sorry for yourself all you like but you're one of the most resilient, resourceful people I've come in contact on the internet. And I don't need to tell you, do I, that you will thrive on this challenge.

No, you didn't need to tell me that.

I'll rise to the challenge like I always have/will... but I didn't log on here so I could "crap" and "consider myself deprived" or look for sympathy. That's why I posted in the "Happy" thread that things are hopefully getting sorted and, more importantly, why I haven't been here for most of the week talking about my problems.

I'm not feeling any sorrier for myself than I have to, it's just that the idea that someone would imply anyone "loves" losing their job is completely fucking ridiculous and, for some reason I can't put my finger on, I'm on a bit of a hair trigger this week. Sure, I might look back in 6 months and be happy with the moves I made, but right now the possibility of having worked 5 weeks, including 3 weekends and Christmas and not getting paid a single penny is pretty fucking shitty... and I don't particularly appreciate being told I'm lucky to be in it, however "positively".

My apologies for jumping down your throat.

Magma, hope everything pans out! Feel sorry for your co-workers as well.

On to the happiness: I'm finally moving into my new flat today! Feels so good to finally have a place that I actually own.
Was getting absolutely insane renting rooms/flats with time limitations all over the city and constantly having to look out for where I'd be living next.
