I didn't re-read, but from memory it wasn't actually Coki's professor. I think the comment is overrated. Because they profess traditional music means they aren't going to find dubstep sexy?

The thread was originally posted in Production, then moved to General, which is possibly why somebody thought I was trying to sound clever when I analysed the production.

EDIT: It was a comment by hasezwei. He has said some other memorable things like "you don't have to sound like the pros, because the pros sound like shit." What is that guys production name anyway?

my post you're referring to was referring to another post, probably the same one said youtube comment refers to.

in said post someone actually claimed that they have this audiophile listening room at uni, and that he played a coki tune on vinyl to his professor who said it was incredibly well-sounding, warm like 70's rock records et cetera yadda yadda.
i think it was in a coki appreciation thread in general.

just saying, i can't claim credit for that.

regarding "you don't have to sound like the pros cause the pros sound like shit", there's more to that statement than you might think. i dont wanna rant or come across like a dick but go check out coki's unmastered stuff he sometimes puts up on his soundcloud, you'll hear he's really not overdoing the whole mixdown thing like people on here, leaving that to the mastering engineer.

"the pros sound like shit [before mastering]" wasn't meant to ridicule the 'pros' but instead get people to stop worrying about fucking compressors for 50+ percent of the time spent in front of the DAW and make some fucking music instead.

as for my production name, well i don't have one. why, do i have to upload a sufficiently sick sounding soundcloud clip in my sig to gain producer cred before my opinion is of any worth?
