need a little NANOKONTROL2 help (post-forum search)

Post by midiVOL » Fri Feb 15, 2013 4:26 pm

Thanks in advance and much respect to anyone that takes the time to reply. FYI this is my first foray into MIDI devices. Been using Ableton for less than a month.

My issue is: I run Ableton 8 and i just received my nanokontrol2 in the mail. please hate on me if that was a really dumb move. I also ordered the nanopad, and while i haven't yet gotten anything mapped to it, i just did some research and decided im glad it only cost me 30USD. Americans may have sent me a poor quality pad, it came new but apparently the nanopads are real crummy? bollocks..

well my Q is this: how to i get ableton to listen to the nanokontrol2? i've downloaded the driver from KORG, i installed it, and the korg midi editor now lives on my PC but is not designated for the 2 series...the midi editor i got only show the 1st gen, and ableton doesnt read a nanokontrol2 ANYwhere....

i've mapped akai's at a mate's flat once and that was EZ, i totally grasp the midi mapping process (or do i?) but i can't seem to figure out the process for bringing up the nanokontrol2 and successfully using it with ableton.

If anyone could give me a rundown on that process i would be quite thankful, or a link to one would be great. My brain is fried after the last 2 hours of tryin to figure this out, feeling like i need someone to explain it to me like im a caveman.

I am not an abl user...does ableton show any midi activity when you turn the knobs? Does it power on when you plug it in the usb?

Anyway, nanopad IMO is one of the best controller`s for that money. I dont even use it as a pad for drumming, I mostly use its x-y controller which I think is awesome and probably the cheapest x-y you can get. Plus its small so it doesnt need to have designated space.

Hey mate, have you tried setting this in the preferences? Under the midi sync tab?
