The adventurer says he was putting his children to bed after drinking at a pub in Gloucestershire when he "flipped".

He tweeted: "Whoever spiked my drink with mind altering drugs and put me in A&E with a psychotic fit. Did you think of the damage you would cause?"

Ben Fogle, 39, says he tried to jump out of a window and had to be restrained by his wife.

Really? when im at acid is cheaper than anything like 1 or 2 euros.

I laughed when i saw the headline but it would be scary as fuck to start tripping without knowing, especially if you didnt even know what tripping feels like.

It's his body and he should have control over what goes into it. If someone spiked me with MDMA (might not be possible? but still) while I was unaware of it and NOT IN THE FUCKING MOOD for it without my consent, I'd flip out too. I'd enjoy the ride but it's still a fucked up thing to do. If I was still on meds like I was a year ago I would've ended up in an ER or died.

I ate a bowl of seriously old grape nuts while in college. Think I tripped off of them. Being completely unaware that you are going into a trip is disconcerting. You don't have a frame of reference for the transition from ordinary reality into extrareality. If that breaking off point is filled with confusion, and likely negativity, bad things can happen on the trip. Hard to rationalize to yourself why you are reading a book while doing a handstand if you did not intentionally enter the altered state.

Still though, if you are mentally healthy, you should be able to weather the experience.
