I used 126 and had to free-hand stretch/cut some of the vocal samples to get it timed just right.mik3 wrote:nice effort mate! way better than my attempt (never finished it) I was put off because theres already some nice dubstep versions on soundcloud. what temp did you use? first off, how the hell do you get your soundcloud link to pop up like that?? I just posted a link "alien dubstep" and just see URL. I do like your remix though!
Re: System of a Down - "Chop Suey" (Phonomancer Dubstep Remi
instead of wrapping the link in the url tab use the soundcloud tab?

That was unexpected. The intro had one vibe going and the drop had quite another. The tension in the vocals doesn't really seem to match the vibe of the intro. Almost as if the vocals and music are at different tempos. But the piano backdrop is actually quite nice. Good effort.

Fucking love SOAD mate
Kind of agree with the comment above that the vibe of the intro certainly doesn't really match the vocals. I would of personally maybe only used snippets of vocal modulated with echos and effects and especially reverb, imo.
As for the tune, your drums sound tight, and the bass isnt too hard on the ear drums so thats good

Melodic deepness from my mind.

I wanted a lot of contrast between the verses (intro/build) and choruses (drop), so I'm honestly quite glad to hear it was unexpected! Apparently most people didn't like it, but I did choose to keep the harsh, staccato vocals over a beautiful, legato accompaniment for a reason. Again, the main underlying theme of the original (and my remix) is contrast. To each their own, though! Thanks for the feedback, brother.Soul Of Seun wrote:That was unexpected. SOAD for life! Ha ha. Read my above response in regards to the intro. As for the snippets of vocals with echo/reverb, I did experiment with that (and reversal) in the first 16 bars, so perhaps I could've brought it back in more, yes. I'm glad you dig it at least a little though! Thanks for writing, dude!koncide wrote:Fucking love SOAD mateKind of agree with the comment above that the vibe of the intro certainly doesn't really match the vocals. i like the intro, the piano and synth are lush
and pretty good sound design on those synths, but tbh i'm not feeling it that much, not my kind of thing
it really needs subbass, and the drum hits are dull and plastic.
can't really make up my mind on this..
whatever

The original is Epic. it kinda works taking something really harcore and making a softer version, but i thought dubstep remixes were all about doing the opposite?
The intro makes me think something alot harsher is coming i prefer how the original comes in... tying to be constructive...
