i thought #3 was a great satire of boris johnson
was quite funny aswell- i loved the "pringles" bit. Didn't really make me think in the way the second one did but it dissected british politics quite successfully even if it wasn't too subtle about it
oh and a comedian got 25% of the votes in italy yesterday, quite good timing!

Yeah never thought of it like that but the question time part did remind me of george galloway.hutyluty wrote:i thought #3 was a great satire of boris johnson

Wasn't an overly exciting concept but it was written well. First episode of this series of black mirror was definitely best. I mean that was really really good.

best episode was 2, followed by 1.
3rd was too predictable for my liking, but still one of the best drama series' recently.

Nah first was by far. It had so many great elements to it.Connected on both an intelligent and emotional level regarding the human reaction to believable advances in technology.
It worked in the way that good science fiction short stories do.
The second one basically had one good twist that raised a couple points but was otherwise a little limited and less believable. It didn't feel like a real future rather than a "this could happen" moment . I did enjoy it though. Felt almost like an extreme Twilight Zone episode
Third one again was kind of believable and funny but otherwise lacking in the broader sci fi content . It was quite well written though. felt like if the Nathan Barley series attempted to predict the future.

Re: UTOPIA/Black Mirror (Channel 4) SPOILERS!
Nathan Barley is probably more accurate now than when it was released
Re: UTOPIA/Black Mirror (Channel 4) SPOILERS!
Yeah Nathan Barley is fucking awesome really. Shame it didn't get more exposure than it did

I was sorely disappointed with this series of Black Mirror. 1st series was just so good. 1st episode of this season, as wolf said, was pretty amazing, but then it all went downhill.
Rewatching Dead Set...that's still amazing.

Season 1- Episodes 1 & 3 are a fair way ahead of the rest I reckon. Be interesting to see how many more he does.

Anyone been watching Weekly Wipe or used to watch Screenwipe when that was on before?
Re: UTOPIA/Black Mirror (Channel 4) SPOILERS!
I'm not sure which series of Black Mirror was best, I think probably this lastest one. Of this series I liked the 1st one the least. Very interesting idea, but in terms of entertainment, didn't really do it for me. 2nd episode has been the best so far imo, never saw the twist at the end coming and I almost felt like the protagonist (or antagonist I guess?) was wrongly incarcerated or something.
Re: UTOPIA/Black Mirror (Channel 4) SPOILERS!
Yeah, that's how I felt about the first one..it was good but around the point when she's taking him up the cliff (waaay) I thought it fell off and copped out. 2nd one was mental at first, I need to go back and rewatch it, again once you had the reveal it wasn't quite satisfying and a bit simplistic in it's portrayal of the general public..pretty depressing outlook really..3rd one I found well done but yeah a bit obvious and this outlook on people being so easily swayed like idiots..well it's not as if I disagree that much with it when you see the kinda shit generally churned out that people lap up..but, well it's just a well cynical view of 'the great unwashed'. STILL Black Mirror's 10x better then anything I've watched on terrestial TV this year though. 1st series held my interest better I think.Neptune wrote:I'm not sure which series of Black Mirror was best, I think probably this lastest one. PS Nathan Barley was so on the button..didn't that last ep of BM say at the end it was an original idea Brooker and Morris had for a episode of that? Wonder how that would've worked..

I actually agree, 1st was most affecting, emotionally. Was a very uncanny film and lingered for days in my mind. 2nd and 3rd felt pretty cliched to be honest, not much to fire the imagination on and a bit silly. Surprised the BT guy is as good an actor as he was.
Re: UTOPIA/Black Mirror (Channel 4) SPOILERS!
Banged out all 6 episodes of Nathan Barley on tuesday. I only ever saw one episode before. Didn't realise how many famous British actors were in it! Yeah, it was made in 2005, but I think it rang a bit more true 2-3 years later.
