Almost finished this tune. Spent a good few months on it now, and I think it's ready for some fine-tuning.
(The quality of the reese is really fucked up by Soundcloud's encoding; it's a whole lot more crisp in other formats :V )
Soundcloud

Aaaand now for some critiques/feedback:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Soundcloud
This goes in! The structuring is nice, and the drums are subtly strong - they're there, but not overpowering. Maybe try adding some harsher noises in the mix. Maybe some distortion, swapping a square wave for a sawtooth. It's got punch, but it lacks the harsh energy I was expecting prior to the drop.
Regardless, still some really great ideas going on in there. Just some tweaking and I reckon you'd have a killer anthem!

Soundcloud
The first thing I thought is that the kicks need EQing - they sound quite stock standard to me. Just beef up the lows and towards the mid-highs for some clicky punchiness (but don't overdo it, a la Zomboy's 'City 2 City' ;) )

Towards the start of the drop the volume rise in the vocals was a little uncomfortable and stand-outish. PErhaps try replacing the volume fading for a low- or a hi-pass filter?
Personally the synthwork, to me, seems a bit over the place and unorganised. Some sounds sounded like they came from a totally different era or style than the sounds after it. Make things a little more defined.

Also, sub-bass. Need that sub-bass, bruv!

Soundcloud
Okay, I'm a huge DnB head, and the sidechaining in this tune instantly reminds me of something Camo & Crooked-ish, which is a plus for me. The sounds and levels are really spot-on, and the sound design is really slick.

Maybe add some high-end synths on top of the bass? To me, this feels like it's leaning towards something a bit Gemini-like. Maybe a simple detuned double-sawtooth thing would go well with it, doing that sidechainy pulsey thing along with the bass?

Also, the nit-picky side of me feels like adding a slight touch of reverb on the twinkly synths at the start. Not a big point, but I had to say it before I burst from the seams, haha :P
I make sounds with other sounds (and sometimes without)

@gaol this is the track you wanted reviewed right? https://soundcloud.com/gaol1/adele-skyf ... -ian-remix

anyway liked the vocals right from the start, also the kick and the snare! reese/reece has nice tone, this is a long tune heh, the structure flow is nice, lots of space, criticizms: maybe could expand on the reese a bit more/ahhh n/m there it is just dropped heh cool yeah sounds dope dirtier. dope all around solid track for the length!

@chasewood

partyhardy: drums could use some beef maybe, i like that first hit of the reese sequence alot cool tone and fx!, not too crazy about the siren like ones. vox fx are cool, feels like the drums are in the back or at least the snare, but dope tune!

@ chainsaw police: ally gator

not diggin the kick sounds flabby, bongos are sick, nice sick dark mid! goes well with the snare, weird now i like the kick with everything else heh. cool minimal vibes man, diggin it, lead is nice, the breakdown could maybe use some more sounds/layers, but all around i dig nice track.

here's my latest 2: thanks for any words!

If I've missed you out it's because I wouldn't be able to give you any relevant feedback :/

@Chainsaw Police - There's an odd frequency on that kick that my ears don't like, not sure what it is. Like the sweeps and shit in the background. The other percussion sounds good. The bass sounds mostly clean but there's, I think, a tiny bit too much distortion. Try using multiple distortion units with a really dry setting and see how that sounds (unless it's just soundcloud, in which case it's probably perfect). Really nice song. Well mixed. Good effort.

@chasewoood - Snare could be a bit punchier. The drop synths need to be mixed together better, some are much louder than the others and they're all generally drowning the drums out. Try notching them or using sidechain compression (personal fav). The levels in the drop is the main thing you need to work on. Nice sounding track though...

@Gaol - Don't think I like that snare. Not enough high end and possibly a little too punchy. Nice kick though. I think the drums might be a bit too loud. The song's structure seems to be a bit all over the place although that could just be me being retarded plus I prefer a simple structure to songs. Nice reese. Doesn't have much high end though. The second drop sounds nice. Good sound design there. The drums need work definitely. Good remix you've got there.

Been a while since I posted anything here. :D

@Living_Tragedy: I like the sidechaining. I think the kick needs bringing though more, try EQ'ing some space in the midrange for it. Pretty short clip but it sounds like a good start for a drop. I'd recommend perhaps cutting some of the muddy frequencies in the synths and perhaps using an exciter/saturator on the top end to get it really crispy :)

@misch:
Chromium: Nice dark ambiences. The drums and bass are pretty clear on the drop but I'm not too sure about the panning synth - it's alittle distracting and draws away from the other elements because its so obvious. There's some nice ideas here and it's definitely got variety as it progresses but I think you should include a break somewhere before 3:00 to add some breathing space to the track then continue with the longer break at 3:00. Overall the mix sounds a little muddy, could use some levels tweaking down on the synths and maybe some EQ to scoop out a little midrange.

@Chainsaw Police: That kick is weird, personally I don't like it, it sounds a bit chubby like you reversed a bit. the other perc is nice and the drums sound clean in the mix. Bass is suitably heavy, could perhaps use more movement from some notch/comb filter sweeps. One thing I'd recommend is perhaps some white noise or cymbals sweeps up to the drops and middle of each section and then sweeps down again just to keep it flowing and varied.

I hate posting near the end of the page, you end up only getting a little bit of feedback lol, nvm, here's another track from me (120bpm not dubstep :P) - finished it up to a listenable standard this afternoon. I know the drums are low in the mix atm but otherwise how's it sound?

@Living_Tragedy Wow so much energy! Crazy feel that pluck and supersaw is beautiful!

@Chainsaw Police Diggin' the feel on this that static noise and those pads are creepy, wonderful percs, diggin the bass and how you pull the sub away at points this is pretty dope...

@Synkopate Like that Arp synth..the sub bass levels are perfect and that snare is phat! The drop was clean as well..

No mixing was done on this tune yet..all the sounds are raw.

@mthrfnk Super groovy track. I really like the melodies/harmonies. I think it could use a little more sub cuz it sounds a little too "light" now. The vocals sound cool - I really like the effect you chose to use there. I think the drums sound pretty good at the level they're at right now. I might add a bit of reverb to the snare just to give it a little more presence in the mix. Could also try throwing some cymbal crashes in every once in a while to help break up your phrases a little more. Overall, a really enjoyable listen, and I think after a few minor tweaks, itll be good to go. The cut to half time at the end was a good choice too. Nice.

@Living_Tragedy Sidechaining from the kick sounds great. Not a huge fan of the snare sample, maybe try something a little less 'poppy' and more beefy / reverberant (i.e. give it a nice tail end). I think it would help fill out the rest of the track and give it a little more momentum. Thats just my opinion though. The synth work is amazing - the different layers fit together perfectly, and I especially like the distorted midrange bass. Don't have too much else to add. Excited to see it when its finished!

@CYREN I think the intro works really well. The bass that comes in at the drop is a little too loud. Drums sound nice and punchy - good work there. I like the cymbal crashes too. The interspersed changes in the bass timbre sound great - I especially like how they are much wider in the stereo field, while the majority of your synth work is tight in the center. I think the main bass sound is a little too much overall and could benefit from a little more EQing and /or stereo widening. Overall, a good start to a heavy track though. :W:

Heres mine. A little quiet so you might have to turn up your speakers a bit (sorry!)

almostskate100: I haven't heard anything like that before.. I love it though, the vibe is great, really chill man.

CYRHEN: I like the first synth of the break. This is a little unstructured for my liking, no melodic lines to me, but I like some of the sounds in this. You might try using that as a break in a song instead of making an entire tune like that.

mthrfnk: I like the birds >:D Really nice atmosphere. That vox is top notch, and even though the drums are low, the top end of the snare cuts through, maybe cut down on the higher frequencies of the snare >15000. I'm liking this tune a lot man, keep it up.

Now for my tune! I entered a remix contest, and I still have until march 15th on this tune. I just want to get this tune out of the way first because it was way easier to make than the other remix I'm working on. To me it seems like towards the end, after the break my snare doesn't cut through as much. I need some pointers please help :3

@chainsaw police that is some great drums and very good bassline. If i had to add something it would be variety in pattern. nested structure is a huge thing i like to add to keep it interesting

@misch thanks for the ffeeedback duly noted. your song has very good fx. well put together. for your drop synth it is good. i like it. i would add a lot of subbass modulation though just take out the lowend and just fuck the shit out of subbasss. thats what i did with the sound you like. instrument rack with several double notches and flanger, wow, etc. i dont remember the rest

@living tradgedy holy cow that sound at 24 is amazing. how did you make it. i have absolutely no feedback except to say jesus your great. i've got a youtube channel if you don't have promotion. its not huge just like 6000 subs but it'll help soundcloud message me.

okay for my newest song ive never worked with 110 and this is brand new barely just started. i could use all the tips i can get before i get really serious bout this. please help me and let me know what you think is good and badd and all inbetween :DDDD

@filtron first off the drums are faint try layering differnt kicks and snares and some sidechain compression then the drums will punch more good tune though
@chasewood Very interesting track the vocals are cool seems a tad loss in structure but the bassline is cool not bad mate
@misch this track is dope constant evolving throughout the song keeps it very interesting and people hooked to listen big up :i:

Woah, this is some really nice stuff, man! I love the rhodes sounds. If I had to add anything, it would be reverb in some parts of the song at interbals. Like, reverb at one time, then turn it off or something? I dunno how to explain it... Automating the dry/wet, I guess? :P

Scy7he wrote:Ok heres my tune i like to make heavy tunes so here is a track i made about Resident Evil just cause i like making video game tracks feedback apreciated ;)

I'm not too big on the synth parts at the start (what almost sounds like a voice synth really high-pitched).
But the drop was real tight! I like the sounds there, but maybe try EQing up the high-end of the kick to give it more "snap", y'know?

mthrfnk wrote:I hate posting near the end of the page, you end up only getting a little bit of feedback lol, nvm, here's another track from me (120bpm not dubstep :P) - finished it up to a listenable standard this afternoon. I know the drums are low in the mix atm but otherwise how's it sound?

Hahaha, yes! Vibes! I absolutely love the vibrato-ish synth on the drop! Maybe try sidechaining it (along with most of the other parts - voice, pads, etc) to give it some pump. Also liking what you're doing with Pitcher. I hate using that thing, it never works for me, which makes me appreciate the tune even more on a production level, haha ;)

Here's my tune. I posted it before, but I changed a few things and added some more. Thoughts?

Chainsawpolice: Really like the intro nice and dark. That reesey sound is super dope. Sub comes through nice. You could change up your kick snare pattern a tiny bit in your first few bars for a bit more flavor though.

Scy7he: I like your style, very evil. The only thing for me is that the sounds just didnt excite me. Its like ive heard this all before. The change up at 1:40 was nice though. And over all your production was ok for me. Sounds could come through a bit punchier.

Filthor: Smooth stuff! Drums are pretty punchy although the snare hits the 200hz point a bit too hard. other than that its a really smooth calming track. I love it!

almostskate100: I did indeed have to turn up my speakers but what a nice production. Your sounds are super smooth and fit really well together I really like this, peaceful well produced stuff.

mthrfnk: Nice! Groovy as hell and it sounds great, only one complaint is the drums dont punch through enough for me. The snare/clap you have is sort of eaten alive by the mix. But other than that great stuff as always! :Q:

Heres mine, going back to the darker stuff I used to make, im just better at it. Im not too sure about the intro it obviously needs more love but idk what to add to it and I also cant think of a proper title. Let me know what you guys think of it.

@ Antman;
Ye the intro definitely needs some more love. The kick seems a bit weak aswel.
Could use a tad more lowend tho.
Other than that, pretty deep vibes man!

@ Chainsaw Police;
Intro is nice, fits the vibe aswel.
The 'drop' isn't what I expected tho. Your keeping things nice and interesting.
Only thing I could comment on is that the bassline might feel a bit too much (needs more variation or filters or SOME CRAZY SHIT MAIN U NOW)
Good production man!

Sch7he;
Not too sure if I got your username correct.
The track sounds a bit cheesy but hey that's video game music these days.
It does fit good in a video game tho. Your synths are nice and wide which is good for this.

@ Filthor;
Intro sounds like my 4 year old brother playing with my TR 505.
Your snare is either way too low or so ridiculously compressed. Please let it breathe before it dies!
The whole production feels wierd as well, I mean structure-wsie, you kno'wa'am'sayin'?
Might want to layer your snare or just bring it up about 5dB.

@ Almostskate100;
Your intro is reaaallly low but jezus man, that groove.
Bring in some fucking offbeat hi hats. DO IT NOW! IM HEADBUMPING WHILE IMAGINING SOME SICK HI HATS ON IT MAIN.
Seriously tho, with some fucking SIIIICCCCCKKK hi hat work this could be a fucking gem.
Love the little claps that are a tad offbeat aswel.
Big up, love it!

@mthrfnk;

Nice emotion in the intro. I FUCKING LOVE BIRDS.
Really like the vocal that comes in.
Holy flying FUCKTITS, that synth, that groove.
Either mix this to sound like fucking tits or send it to a mastering/mixing engineer because this is sick.
I could definitely expect this on Studio Brussels.

@ Living_Tragedy;
Nice synths man. Seems like you've got everything layed out, now get to finish this!

@ Misch;
Drumwork seems ok.
Don't feel much low end tho. Seems a bit empty at the 200Hz aswel.

All my critique is just my personal feel, I don't mean to hurt anyone or make anyone cry. If I did, I'm really sorry man!

Be as honest as possible on this (but don't make me cry):

Hah thanks man, I'm mixing down as best I can atm - trying to keep my ears fresh as I'm mixing all my tracks for an EP, definitely thinking of sending to a pro Mastering engineer, I've seen this nice studio in London that has done a shit ton of good releases. If I get the mixes perfect I'm going to treat myself and send the EP there :lol:

Also thanks to everyone else for feedback, I'll be posting an update tonight/tomorrow and will try and return all feedback :W:

Thanks for the feedback guys, and Cubic I sort of did that on purpose. It's a remix and I tried to change it up, I fixed the intro to be a lot better actually, not as random, more musicality in it.

@filthor definitely needs some variety. gets very boring after only a few seconds. i like it. just use like nested structure or maybe some atmospheres and sweeps

@almostskate. i Love the rhythm its good. i would say add some drum fx some hi hats maybe a roll or ride or something... i think the quality of the "snare" could be better too

@scy7he hey hit me up on soundcloud i have like 300 videogame atmosphere and fx samples ill give to you some how.....they are really wicked. The song is awesome. also i would add some more hi hats make this bitch sound fast and use subbass automation. Im a huge fan of taking subbass and midrange to the next level. just move it around with the synths in my opinion it makes you wanna dance to songs way harder

now please everyone!!!!!!1

please everyone i need as much feedback as i can possibly get i want to be extremely serious bout this song as it is my first one with the new artist name. please and thank you. im mostly concerned bout it being too all over the place. please if you have ideas let me hear them. skipp to 40 seconds as i have barely even touched on the intro so far
Soundcloud

i could really use all the help i can gettt. and this is the most important question. is it too all over the place. what can i do to make it groove all together more.?

@mthrfnk: I know what you mean about the end of the page, lol. Excellent intro, the vocoding is pretty sweet sounding. I really dig the feel of the track, 120bpm works well here as well. The only think I would even suggest is perhaps cleaning up the vocals, or maybe pitching them up or down when they aren't solo, as they can be heard to hear well when the synths come in.
@ almostskate100: Pretty chill track man, very idm. There are some really awesome sounds in there. I don't think I would change a single thing in the track to be honest.
@Scy7he :Pretty heavy man. Arrangement is great. The change up at around 1:40 really makes the track. The lead distorted bass sounds great, but it plays a lot through the middle of the track, perhaps a darker break similar to the intro, or even a big spacey pad filled break to break it up. Though, if you are going for that hard driving feel, you have certainly nailed it.

Here is my latest WIP, am I heading in the right direction?
