Hello everyone. First post. Hope I make a good impression.
I finished this a couple of days ago. Posted it to SC but can't really get people to listen to it. I'm still new to this, I guess I need to find more followers and follow more people myself? Anyway, I thought I'd try a dedicated forum.
It's more of a brostep track (as much as I hate using that term) than classic dubstep. There's more screams than bass and wobbles. It's my first dubstep production, so crits are welcome. And I should mention that I didn't come up with the melody, it's from an old-ish In Flames tune.
Anyway I'm dying to know what you think.

cool tune, what do you use to get those 8bit sounding spikes in the intro? chipsounds?
drops nice, but i think it would sound better without the reggae style spikes? and possibly bringing the drums up would give the track a more powerful feel.
good work tho, ive hit follow on SC

Hey SemTex. Thanks. That's actually a basic Saw II wave in Massive with no filters or inserts (only some ping-pong delay in Live). The spikes are 3 key chords, with the keys being hit in a very rapid succession. That's what's making it sound chiptuny, 'cause those old 8-bit consoles did not have polyphony.
I guess I'm too Skrillex influenced, he uses reggae style spikes a lot. (By the way is that what it's called, spikes?) Him and Zomboy too. But he uses piano, and I guess most artists use piano. I tried chiptune and really liked it and chose to stick with it.
Hmm. Drums actually used to be louder, I kinda lowered them, 'cause listening to commercial releases I felt like mine were too loud. I'll definitely keep that in mind for future projects. I'd been working on this for about three months in my spare time, I guess I got too close to the tune and lost perspective.
Thanks for commenting, I was dying for some feedback. You've got quite a CS page. Gonna check it out now.
