Actually, we were invaded - by the British,
War of 1812. You fucks!
Just kidding. We
did declare war first in that one, so...

I think Britain was more concerned about Napoleon having invaded most of Europe and heading over the channel (wasn't the USA beef mostly about Britain not wanting the USA to supply France, and the USA seeing it as a good time to try and get some more land off the Native Americans?

).

There doesn't seem to be clear consensus as to any one cause - there's what you mentioned, plus the British going and Shangai-ing American sailors into service in the Royal Navy, plus the fact that we were looking hungrily at Canada, plus various longstanding beefs on both sides from the War of Indepence... and the British cleverly played the Indian population against the newly formed Republic, letting them know that if this new country succeeded it was only going to get worse for them (although I doubt a continued British hegemony would mean much difference back then.)

The US response:
WASHINGTON (AP) -- As public evidence mounts that the Chinese military is responsible for stealing massive amounts of U.S. government data and corporate trade secrets, the Obama administration is eyeing fines and other trade actions it may take against Beijing or any other country guilty of cyberespionage.
According to officials familiar with the plans, the White House will lay out a new report Wednesday that suggests initial, more-aggressive steps the U.S. would take in response to what top authorities say has been an unrelenting campaign of cyberstealing linked to the Chinese government. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the threatened action
Ie, the currency war is waning and the trade war is beginning. Only one war after that.

Not really there was a need for boots on ground in Afghanistan and Iraq along with normal bases and operations in the states and abroad.
Now that the wars are "over" there is an excess of troops again.
They were recruiting anybody and everybody when they needed troops to deploy, no that there is no need it's time to be more selective and cut back.

Saw that as AP broke it.
My theory is they think all Americans are like Rodman and now want to eradicate us.
In all seriousness if they even have a nuke they can launch, the target would likely be South Korea or otherwise hit the Ocean, and the reciprocation... well WW3, but an incredibly short war.

Think their threat is an emp strike, not nuking a us city. They established in their last launch that they could put a warhead into emp range.

well a month or so back there was a mysterious earthquake from NK, like an underground test.
even so unless a widespread EMP it'd be an inconvenience

Well that last launch is in orbit at 310 miles. A good height for an emp blast.

I do believe they had an underground test that caused a rift in SK recently though.

They did, hence new sanctions being drawn up to slap them with now.

I know they have a nuke now, but I've seen documentaries about how it is there like 4 years ago hidden cam wise that just made me feel sad.
