Re: the future of keyboards
God damn. That thing is awesome. Whats the price for one of those?
Re: the future of keyboards
like $799 for a 25 key at $1199 for a 49 or something around there.Gaol wrote:God damn. That thing is awesome. Whats the price for one of those?

Looks pretty cool! It must have touch sensitive features on the keys, linked to the pitch or mod wheel i'm guessing.
How are you getting on with the Novation?

not so well yet. im still trying to figure out how to map it correctly. i mapped it to a few plugs and i loved working with the knobs and sliders like controlling an eq for instance was awesome, but i got interrupted and dont think i saved my adjustments. i've been real busy with class and work and every time i've tried to sit down and map everything i've either been interrupted or drunk. should get around to mapping all my plugs and the entire daw this weekend though. do you know how to make it so i map all my plugs separately and then have separate controls for the daw too all saved on the same setting like? is the global button for switching to your daw functions when you have a plug open? the thing didnt come with a manual so i've only been tinkering with it. i suppose i should look for a pdf manual online or something.VirtualMark wrote:Looks pretty cool! I had the remote sl,just use the learn function to assign controllers and then save template.Automap 3 as well is meant to make things easier but in my experience it is seriously fucking buggy so yeah learn function is the way for me.

Re: the future of keyboards
I fucked mine off when I got my virus so automap was 3 back then and not a good experience. The learn function was just a lot easier to map things quickly.Great keyboard but too fucking fiddly.

You can download both the Automap manual and the SL MK2 manual from the Novation site, that should help you get it set up. Also what DAW are you using again? There's some custom guides and it works differently for each DAW. For example, Ableton doesn't have to use the Automap server, it has it's own custom map.Eat Bass wrote:not so well yet. im still trying to figure out how to map it correctly. i mapped it to a few plugs and i loved working with the knobs and sliders like controlling an eq for instance was awesome, but i got interrupted and dont think i saved my adjustments. i've been real busy with class and work and every time i've tried to sit down and map everything i've either been interrupted or drunk. should get around to mapping all my plugs and the entire daw this weekend though. do you know how to make it so i map all my plugs separately and then have separate controls for the daw too all saved on the same setting like? is the global button for switching to your daw functions when you have a plug open? the thing didnt come with a manual so i've only been tinkering with it. i suppose i should look for a pdf manual online or something.VirtualMark wrote:Looks pretty cool! The way i configured mine - when you open a plugin it brings up the mapping - i clicked clear to reset the mapping. Then clicked learn and used the latch function, then i either saved as a new profile or clicked set as default. It should then be saved for that plugin.
I have to say i do like it - i find that once set up it's nice to have controls mapped out. And the hands of side seems to let me hear things better - like adjusting a compressor by hand, it seems easier to hear what it's doing.

Yeah i know where you're coming from, it is awkward to get set up.lloydy wrote:I fucked mine off when I got my virus so automap was 3 back then and not a good experience. The learn function was just a lot easier to map things quickly.Great keyboard but too fucking fiddly.
I miss my Virus now, the parameter control is instant and a lot smoother.
Re: the future of keyboards
yeah exactly. i like how i can adjust my eq and comp with a controller and not look at the screen. its much better. im using logic btw.VirtualMark wrote:You can download both the Automap manual and the SL MK2 manual from the Novation site, that should help you get it set up. Re: the future of keyboards
Have you tried recording automation yet? On mine, it comes out quite jagged - it seems there's a limitation with Automap. It doesn't matter how smooth i set it on Cubase it still comes out jagged, is Logic the same?

That looks pretty awesome!!.
I'm also happy at the amount of analog synths that are being released now.
