Re: Using keyboard as midi controler?
I use logic and the pc keyboard words as a midi controller just fine, just press the caps locks key.

FL has this as standard too.

Re: Using keyboard as midi controler?
It depends. I think a few studios like FL automatically read your keyboard as midi. Honestly it's not worth it in my opinion. You'd be better off scraping up money to buy a cheap keyboard, until then I wouldn't worry about it.Using your actual keyboard serves no real point after awhile, mainly because you're limited to a single octave which is shitty when you're writing a complex melody. Sorry for not anwsering your question. Just wanted to throw that out there.

This.
You should be able to use your keyboard to control the Fpc pads.

Re: Using keyboard as midi controler?
I sometimes use the keyboard on my laptop, but it's a drag! A dedicated midi controller is 10 times better.

I like FPC, I use it loads for cymbals - I really like the standard set of hats and rides.
Re: Using keyboard as midi controler?
Midi keyboards are awesome, especially ones with knobs to adjust automation and such. And you can also learn a little piano and have some fun playing to stop yourself from getting insane after hours and hours spent looking at colored daw squares

Re: Using keyboard as midi controler?
Ableton Live uses keyboard as a midi input as well
Re: Using keyboard as midi controler?
techncally it's harder to get chords and melody lines with the pc keyboard. with the midi keyboard your penny might drop sooner.
