I work in a record shop over here and get paid in vinyl,
about half of what i take home goes in a glass cabinet and
has a seperate set of stylus, the other half gets dragged
around the bush and played n scratched 2 bitz - bit of both

I buy records cause i love vinyl. Ive never accepted CD's, tho i do have a few. Im a vinyl junkie through & through, i even go digging in second-hand recordstores & bookstores. Ive only ever played out once, it was cool but not really me. I played a tech-step set in front of house & electro heads. None of them really felt it. I dropped a few evil tunes just to piss them off hehe!

The sound of vinyl and the collector aspect is why. i just bought an external hard drive two days ago cause my computer was full up-- put all my mp3s from 2001-2005 on the external, 3,000+ songs shit! mainly mainstream, indy, pop, hiphop stuff. Of course iam holding on to them, but its more like achieving them, just files and probably wont return to them that much dispite all the good tunes...and the real good mp3s, i went and got the vinyl anyways. vinyl is very different---always pulling out the old stuff playing it, maybe cause i can find it, but probably more importantly cause each slab of plastic has a story, how i got it, who it is, what label its on, or not (white). the mp3 is just a file to me.

I played out for a time, but its been awhile, love hearing my records on a proper system, and i have the tunes, fresh off, the latest, but you know, it went unappreciated as everyone just wants to hear the latest hiphop/r&B/dancehall hits. That fine, its business, keeping peopleʻs asses shaking and buying drinks party time and all that. Iam too much of a punk, someone else can deal with keeping everyone music happy. My goal is too see a soundsytem culture here - people love their dub and reggae here, but the actual sound is so not that important...a couple of overworked mackies on poles--got to change that to move it forward.

I wouldn't expect that at all. Most of the locals I know that like dubstep (or any form of EDM for that matter) but don't dj, usually just download mixes. I think things will change as MP3 sales get bigger and more music is available and there will be more fan types to go along with it.

Good point, I wasn't thinking that digital releases were bought by fans more like records for are bought by DJs more.
