Those are Akai samplers, so not strictly drum machines. And there are 5...the bottom two rack units on the right are both Akai samplers also.


They would give a different sound...the S3000 (larger of the rack mounts, second from bottom with the blue LCD screen and vertical disk drive) is a 16bit sampler, and would give a different sound than (for example), the MPC2500 (black unit, central in front of the mixing desk).

I agree - a setup like that would hinder my production. I use the mouse and keyboard a lot and have all of my common functions mapped out, to the point that I can press a couple of keys together and it'll insert my favourite EQ or compressor. I don't get why anyone would want a stack of controllers like that, some appear to be doing the same thing. And there's no midi keyboard in sight.
