EDIT: I'm not advocating actual celebration of her death, just the fact that putting a lid on the discussion about the
bad things she stood for and enacted leads absolutely nowhere and is frankly insulting to all the people who've been affected by her policies.
Considering this was written by the Guardian, I was inclined to think it was a load of shit anyway, and upon reading it turned out to be a load of shit. Every leftist on earth will wheel out the excuses they're demonising tories for using when blair dies without any hint of irony.

Doing a sigh of relief.. is hardly celebrating.
Thatchers politics were similar to BNPs, difference was just that it was possible at the time to make that look like stateswomany biz. The part of the lowerclass that didn't hate her politics where racists that held foreign workers or genuine or collonial fugitives responsible for taking their jobs.

Nice and posh. I disagreed about how we should be quite so nice to each other. He just wasn't a big enough bastard to be a hero of mine."
very much on point. I was thinking a lot yesterday about what'd happen if Benn dies soon (he cancelled a public appearance recently due to ill health, around the same age as Maggie was etc.) and I couldn't think of anything bad to say about the dude, aside from the usual few idiots who'll call him a communist or something.

Yep. Her and Reagan made fiscal conservatism so popular that the Left forgot its job was to balance out the psyche of the nation when the Tories are in power, just as the Tories are supposed to balance when the Left gets carried away. Thatcher (along with all the millions of pounds she allowed people to make) convinced them all to pull in the same direction... whatever direction that was, it was never going to be positive for the health of our democracy.
I think one of the reasons the left hate her specifically is due in part to just how shit the majority of the left were in opposing her. We've kinda lost the art of politics and I tend to think this can be traced to the period of Thatchers and Reagans time in office.I also think that we're still counting the cost of her policies and some are ashamed of having bought into it the first time round.

An article on vice today (lol)
"Off into the night I went satisfied that, if nothing else, I had born witness to a small chapter of the social history of Britain, even if a lot of the people celebrating were middle class and are far more used to pulling Bitcoins out of mines than lumps of coal. One of the people who didn't fit into that category told me he thought that Thatcher, "hated the poor and her successors hate the poor and we hate her. Our hatred is the only hope for the future. Her hatred is the shit of the past."

Not that far, she thought immigrants should wait in a queue behind British nationals before getting a slice of the British pie, but she was happy to sell it to them at a pretty penny.

You can paint as simple a picture as you want mate. The fact that BNP is way more transparent and clumsy in a rethorical sence doesn't change how alike their views on people are and where.

A sigh is usually involentary and done exhaling when the trauma stops.
Its a common thing in Ingerland that once something has popped up in the public domain, the most common dividing oppinion is the one where you can morally knock people in the head with it. She was one of the foremost proponents of that principle and now you are taking it out for a spin.

That is totally removed from what people like Nick Griffin said though. Plus - population who've been living here for much longer should undoubtedly have more rights. It's the same in other countries across the globe, it's just that they don't bend over backwards to support immigrants like we do.
Anyway, comments like "Thatchers politics were similar to BNPs" is just bollocks.

Why should the population who've been living here for much longer have more rights? Nationality is nothing but an accident of birth. what makes a British national who has been here for ten years more eligible for 'rights' than someone whose been here for 4?

You don't want an answer to that. But its about being afraid of what foreign traits could become commonly british.

who are they and do you believe you own where you are?
Other than the right to reside which people outside of the EU don't qualify automatically what rights should be afforded a British national that should be denied another?

And no, I share.
