What: The Fortress Aquamarine
Where: Wine3 at The Fortress; Galle, Sri Lanka
Price: $14,500
This dessert, which debuted in March, was inspired by the success of the restaurant’s other gem-studded treat, the Bombay Sapphire Martini. The star of the show is an 80-carat aquamarine gem that rests on a sliver of chocolate shaped to resemble the traditional stilt fisherman that’s part of the resort’s logo. Handmade glass utensils (not included in the price) complete the presentation. And yes, diners can pocket the gemstone after polishing off the dessert.
None have yet been sold.

$14,500 in SriLanka!!!!!!!!!!
I imagine that could buy you a decent sized house there!!!!!
AND have enough change to hire a cook to make you a nice dessert!
Not surprising no-ones bought any yet!
HAHA
Don't they realise there's a war on?
Perhaps that's how they mean to finance it
I had a burger once that was $150 ( of course, as always, I didn't pay the check!! ) Bloody horrible thing really, had truffles in it which I can't stand, had to take them out like pickles in McDonalds!!!!! And it wasn't cooked properly ( in my opinion )

I think he is, his sense of humour appears to be very Scandinavian like.

Right now I am very intrigued as to the origin of the weasel...
That gives you an indication of how exciting my job is.

Personally, I reckon it looks lovely! Truffle oil and foie gras go great together.

ok not exactly a diamond but it was a topaz, gemstone, emerald or what ever

I don't remember it correctly, but it was found inside a mountain a few years back, I remember a picture of some guys standing next to it..
