yeh the snare on 3rd invokes a more chill/emotive vibe , and was pioneered by artists such as Mt Eden Dubstep (this was before dubstep became mainstream and you had to search youtube for latest hits ofc. shout to the heads that remember.)

the 'dub' comes from the act of dubbing acapellas over the top of such beats, pioneered by such artists as Mt Eden Dubstep in their famous undergound hit Mt Eden Dubstep - Sierra Leone.
