You know what - I was just sitting here going through infinite volleys
of cynical, inflamatory, offensive reactions to this
"mail order bride" - "asian men are deplorable" thing...

and it just occured to me - This has nothing to do with anything...


The entire issue here - and the girl in the video even said it...

Is that she wants to travel and experience life in another culture
- but her family can't afford to send her overseas.

Well yeah!! Me too!!

The difference is - I'm not about to pander, exploit and be exploited
by weirdo perverts in order to do it

...and perpetuate a cycle of female disrespect that they then, convienently use as an excuse to do it in the first place.

This is actually something I have been thinking about for a very long time...

I call it circuit living...

What if you have a community "studio" - with small apartments above...
(im thinking metalsmithing/printmaking - could be anything - could be multiple circuits - red bull music circuit right!?)

and the way it functions - is you live in the apts in exchange for teaching below at the community studio...manning the gallery etc.
while simultaneously working on your own projects - for 6 months to a year at a time...

and then you move to another one - in another city/country - with a large body of work to show/for sale - and do the same...
offering the new town - classes with visiting artist in residence...


I also thought how you could do this with a boutique hotel type set up - where you would work the hotel itself
clean rooms - do laundry - work the cafe - room service - act as information desk
- give guided walking tours - drive people to airports or where ever
maybe even produce walking tour maps for the immediate area (if you are artistic)...curate parties

Just generally work to make a great experience for travellers and locals in exchange for your own lodging and a modest stipend..

I don't even know where to start.

The idea of "mail order brides" is fairly disgusting, but Terpit is clearly trolling his ass off. Some guy I used to work with married a girl he met off the Internet from Thailand, but they spoke a LOT before she came over here... it was more like long distance Internet dating than the slave-trade.

I think I almost certainly agree with at least one of the sentences lovelydivot's posts, but am concerned how she'll receive my replies, what with the two hemispheres of her brain now residing in separate counties. So far we've had indeterminate lolz about America, "Surf Punk logic" (it's a well known concept, everyone), the ubiquitous flood of non-related YouTubes, "taint", something about Manta Rays (I think?!) and how they should probably be called Personta Rays, the lack of tourism opportunities for those in the Third World (hint: poor boys can't afford to travel either), and a suggested business model for a Hotel.

This is even better than watching a DMX interview.
