It's widely used in both senses in British English. Jesus, have none of you Brits ever watched a Sherlock Holmes film?
The 'American' (just for the matter of clarity) meaning is the dictionary definition.
The 'British' meaning is more of a colloquialism. It all depends on the inflection.
This is unfortunately true for a LOT of the disagreements between British and American English - trousers were pants long before anyone discovered the Trade Winds.
It turns out that in most cases
we were the linguistic vandals!

Are you quite sure the page was blank? -- Yes, 100%
How was your meal? -- *Shrugs* Yeah it was quite good
The 'British' meaning, as we're calling it, is invariably used by the low born.

yeah it's the same shit as some brits using "allow" to mean ignore, etc

'Allow', in that meaning, is more slang whereas the 'Quite' in question is much more widely used and so more of a colloquialism.

YD suck so much these days, they used to be good about 5 years ago, seen them play some quality shows back in the day, I've also seen a mate of mine smack their vocalist in the face while they were in the middle of a set, my mate was the promoter for the gig and the vocalist was getting the crowd to completely trash the venue, people were throwing chairs about and smashing glasses all over the place and the whole time the vocalist was just encouraging it, rightly so my mate was none to pleased with this and smacked the singer something rotten, chucked them out the venue and then Prowler LBU came on and owned the whole show!
Great night
