Record shopping in London

Post by Drizzt » Fri May 03, 2013 2:20 pm

Im going up to see Surgeon on the 25th of May and plan on record shopping for the day. My mate wants to go Honest Jons but where else is good? Not just after electronic music but metal, post punk, ambient whatever. Second hand is good. Any ideas?

Going to Honest Jons tomorrow morning, there's also a shop called peoples sound records just down the road but that is mainly reggae.

Portobello market is in that area as well, lots of second hand stalls there, you'll probably find a few records scattered around.

If you're heading over to Soho there are loads more record stores. Phonica, Sister Ray, Black Market/Dub Vendor, Sounds of the Universe, Reckless Records and the video music exchange are all within walking distance of eachother. This is my favourite place to shop in London, lots of musical variety.

Up in Islington is Haggle Vinyl and Flashback Records. Haggle is one of the craziest shops I've ever been in to, soooooooooo many records but you've got to do some digging to find the good stuff sometimes.

There's a few in Camden as well. Out on the Floor records, another music video exchange and a little stall down by the docks called Massive International.

I'm sure I've missed a few out, I'm not very well versed in non dance music/reggae stores.

Happy hunting!!
