In terms of sheer resilience, adaptability to their environment, stealth, agility and merkage factor, my vote goes to the leopard.
If we're talking a "Round 1. FIGHT!" type scenario then probably not. Maybe one of those super venomous snakes etc.

Could an inland taipan's fangs penetrate a [animal with thick hide, pick one] before it got squashed though? Also, there is no recorded information on an inland taipan vs an elephant. Venom affects different creatures in different ways, a funnel web spider can get a human but it's bite has no effect on a cat, for example.Laszlo wrote: Maybe one of those super venomous snakes etc.

They have very little power in the muscles that open their jaw.SheepShagga wrote:lol no gtfosouthstar wrote:Human can beat crocodile with a rubber band

Re: Toughest animal in the world?
Polar bear's only real weakness is it's lack of speed versus big cats. I'm also not quite sure if it would be able to breach the hide of an elephant or rhino effectively but I still think in both terms of ability to defend and ability to attack the polar bear is the best all rounder. The mario of the animal kingdom.

Good point but animals with thick hides (usually/always) have shit eyesight. Would they be able to see the venomous creature to squash it?wub wrote:Could an inland taipan's fangs penetrate a [animal with thick hide, pick one] before it got squashed though? But yeah, are we talking a one-on-one single fight or a protracted conflict?
Re: Toughest animal in the world?
Law of averages would suggest that if a rhino/elephant were in an arena with a snake long enough, snake would get squashed.Laszlo wrote:Good point but animals with thick hides (usually/always) have shit eyesight.
