Re: things that have made you happy today
watched a fair bit of the US office and Steve carrell is the only one i rate in the entire thing really. Dwights not too bad but the rest are really irritating and poor versions of the characters from the UK Office.

which in turn are just based off of generic people you have in your office...
Re: things that have made you happy today
I've never properly watched US office, seen bits of it and it looks funny but never actually seen a whole episode
Re: things that have made you happy today
U mad son. The UK Office is brilliant, but I think I prefer the US version, I think the pace is better and (obviously) they had a lot more time to give more of the characters good stories. I watched all the UK ones fairly recently and tbh I can't even remember most of the character's names.jorge wrote:watched a fair bit of the US office and Steve carrell is the only one i rate in the entire thing really. Re: things that have made you happy today
it's not really about the characters names though in a way
Re: things that have made you happy today
I think cus the US office is alot longer you get more caught up with story and characters
but for comedy genius, the uk office is just a complete gem

Is the US Office anywhere near as cringe worthy as the original, or is it a bit more like Parks and Rec?
Re: things that have made you happy today
idk what Parks and Rec is. Do you mean cringy as in shit or cringy as in 'awkward' comedy?Laszlo wrote:Is the US Office anywhere near as cringe worthy as the original, or is it a bit more like Parks and Rec?

I mean I could not watch the original version because it made me want to peel my own skin off just so my mind would be distracted from the unbearable cringieness.
Is it like that or actually funny?
Safe, Agent. Might start watching it..

Yeah exactly, the UK ones are good because they´re quite subtle imitations of people who you could imagine to be real. The US ones are exagerated immitations of immitations and it shows imo. It better than alot of comedy programs, but the original is so good that this pales in comparison.kidshuffle wrote:which in turn are just based off of generic people you have in your office...

yes, dwight is "based" off of the same personality as gareth....but my roommate has the same personality as both of them. these people just exist. even if there was no UK office, i can guarantee you that they would have made dwight almost the same character because those people are quite common.
the only real similarities between gareth and dwight (after the first season, because thats really the only time the characters are ripoffs) is their dress, and the fact that they're self centered, cynical assholes.

Yeah thats kind of what I didnt like about. I couldnt care less about pam or jim or any of the others. In the UK office part of its charm is that they dont indulge the boring side characters with stories or even names. Which i guess is kind of what its like in an actual office.

Yeah but for me, Gareth is a hugely better and funnier character than dwight and also much more believable. I know people who thought the office was real when they first watched it, theres no chance of that with the US version.

I don't want to watch a 'realistic' Office tbhjorge wrote:DRTY wrote:U mad son.
