Idea for drums in logic...
i was thinking... wouldn't it be a good idea to fill a esx24 with all kick drums, then another with snares, hats, percussion blips, and so on? is there a way to macro a knob to select each sample? or would the only way to scroll through a sample be to change midi notes or use your keyboard? i just find its cumbersome to have to search through samples for so long and then copy and paste and delete and etc to hear them in context with the song. if i cant somehow scroll through the samples in the esx, is there a way to do this in kontakt?
does anyone have any cool methods for quick sample changing in the context of the song for logic? im really trying to step up my workflow as i feel its hindering my ability/capacity to finish songs.

Re: Idea for drums in logic...
I suggest you to take some help from Youtube videos. You can learn best tricks from trainers with lots of ideas with their personal practices.
Re: Idea for drums in logic...
That's the way I do drums in exs24.
The easiest way I find to scroll through the kicks/snares etc is by drawing a note ore pattern in the piano roll then holding down Alt/Option and using the up/down arrow keys to scroll through the hits whilst in playback.
It's not a macro knob but it's the easiest way I've found.
I would be keen to hear any other ways though.

i just like to have drum kits so that i can play the beat in and jam without having to do it drum sound by drum sound

Re: Idea for drums in logic...
There is a drag and drop template in the ultrabeat.Simply drag your drum files from the finder window into ultrabeat and start building kits.A good way is just to make one for kicks, one for snares...........
Also just using finder to audition drum hits is probably the most simple way but obviously its a bit difficult to get the idea of what they might sound like in context of your track.
Either way you will need to add them into your project to get an idea and building a sampler patch with exs24 or ultrabeat would easily be the way to go.
I use battery as my main drum machine/sampler but in all honestly most my beats i just use audio as i find it a very simple and effective way to construct drums.

Re: Idea for drums in logic...
I think that's like the most common problem for logic user around, getting them drums down. I personally use ultrabeat, but that's mostly for house. I very seldom use the esx24, because I just don't find it satisfying. Rather slave ableton instead.
oh ye... I sometimes use samples and group em in folders witch i seperate after take - break, vers, etc...
Lately though I've mostly rolled with getting patterns out on the mpc and then recording it over as individual sample loops. If I wanna adjust a hit a do it with flex.
I think machine is the easiest solution tbh. Recently I saw a vid with Bass Kleph where his workflow seemed so effective and fast.

Spend more time with the EXS. Get to know it. It is HUGE for playing around with drum samples.p12 wrote:I think that's like the most common problem for logic user around, getting them drums down. I mainly use ni's battery as well as audio dropped straight in to my project.
Exs has its uses too, I usually load up whole kits of diferent hats in one, kicks in another for quick acccess for ideas

Re: Idea for drums in logic...
Well I have everything organized in finder on my harddrive (with maps and shit), because it makes it easier when transfering onto my MPC as well. But maybe I'll set up like a hat preset, would be pretty cool to play around with. Would also make it easier to go trap on the whole hat rythmbkwsk wrote:Spend more time with the EXS. Get to know it.
