Ditto
I achieved my goal of opening my first restaurant before i was 30. I hope to open my second before I'm 35.
in the midst of opening my first bar actually. regrets or.. maybe not because you are wanting to open another? insights to a first timer?
Well the usual warning of not opening a business with others. Either get a silent investor or go it alone. I made the mistake and almost resorted to murder. However it was a good learning experience. We were successful but it became impossible so i sold out my end. It all gets terribly stressful and that's when the relationships break down.
Next time I'll buy the land first and if it doesn't succeed i can at least recoup the value.
fuck.
were you in the business beforehand at all? i know you as a foodie, but not sure if you were ever a worker in the industry. reason why i ask is because ive been doing restaurant/bar for the past 12 years. im wondering if its still a different demon, outside of the normal stresses. its just a stressful business. im wanting to open it with some best friends, although none of them will be investors.
I've worked in the food industry on and off. It's not the food side that's the real problem. The complications arise when it comes to decision making. Everyone has their own opinions about how to go about things, but only one person can win. I find that this causes resentment, especially when it turns out that the wrong decision was made.
I went into business with a lazy useless piece of shit though, so you might be lucky.

I'm past 30
and I'm glad I had no list
because it would've been restricting.
Life just keeps on getting better & better
unless you think reaching 30 is somehow debilitating.

"Become comfortable with turning 30"
I managed it with about a week to spare. Starting work on 40 now.

I'm going to try it once, but I'm pretty sure I won't bother doing it twice.

I'd like to see Male Cougaring done in the same vane as Female Cougaring. Hire yourself a teenage girl to clean your pool and mow your lawn and see how long it takes for Operation Yewtree to come knocking.
