Some incredible textures in there, but I'm not a huge fan of the amount of 'trap' vibes there seems to be. Same kick and snare sound used in them. And never loved the abrupt cutting of the end of tracks.
But it sounds like it was mixed and mastered a lot better than Dedication.

this, ffs. I always get the impression the man fiddles around with his equipment until he builds a nice loop, records it, applies a few edits and then just calls it. like he doesn't really care about the general structure of his tunes. it might work for a few bits, but he's overdoing it for my taste.NeverLearntToShare wrote:And never loved the abrupt cutting of the end of tracks.

moments of the tunes are great, overall they're kind of flat.. some of the melodies are pretty lazy, songs just end.. the jungle/hardcore ones are terrible - loop some lifeless sounding amens for way too long then chat like you're the last person in england doing it on twitter

not going to listen to the album until release. That being said I personally like when the tracks just suddenly end. For Dedication I think the idea behind them ending like that is linked to his father's sudden passing. Especially on the last tune when the song builds up to a point where it feels like everything is going to fall apart and it just stops.

Liking it more than Dedication so far.
Re: ZOMBY
But he's gone on record saying that the only element of the 'Dedication' LP influenced by his father's death was the name. Agreed though, cutting the songs short keeps me coming back.EliteLennon117 wrote:not going to listen to the album until release. That being said I personally like when the tracks just suddenly end. Yeah, I get how it can sometimes be good to keep you on your toes and not knowing what to expect, but I just really think it fucks up the flow of the album as a whole. And, with most Zomby albums, the songs don't really sound great unless listened as a whole rather than just one by itself, so the abrupt ends don't do it for me.

Also that song 'VI-XI' is basically that song 'Originalll' but re-done, if people remember that one?

Re: ZOMBY
In multiple interviews he goes on about how he has all these ideas for melodies, riffs or sounds etc. in his head and he'll set it all down and for the most part be done with it. He mentions how he doesn't like to stick to the one thing for too long or he loses inspiration.
I guess this is why majority of his tracks sound like they are a loop that has been arranged around to make some form of structure.

They are the throwaways from all his previous releases...he's been doing fuck all productive for the last year, his twitter is evidence of that.
