yamaha hs10w vs krk 10's with fostex pm-1? Best Fit

yamaha hs10w vs krk 10's .... which are the best fit for the Fostex pm-1's .... It is important i feel the sub but also important that the sub has clarity and doesn't rattle and the flatter the freq response the better for mix and translating it to other system right???? or does this not apply to sub's. I am making this purchase in 2 hours and the posts I read helped a little but whats the verdict on these. Thanks in advance guys. Oh and I will probably purchase new monitors at some point but for now I am stuck with the Fostex.

Fostex are actually quite nice. Never used the KRK sub but the Yamaha is very good. The only thing that would keep me from buying one is not a big enough room. Isolate the sub from the ground/wall, and if I were you I'd only use it to cross reference with, not really mix with... but depends on your room setup.

I got the krk... My walls are rattled and its on the lowest settings . Does anyone know what the crossover should be set to on the foster pm1? I feel like I'm still hearing alot of bass in my fostex even though its set to 80hz.

The crossover just needs to be set at whatever you've set the sub at which is simple enough. If you don't think it's working properly, try running a sine test tone across the frequency spectrum using a db meter and see if it drops off at 80Hz.

Your walls are vibrating because the kinetic energy from the sub cabinet is being transferred to the floor and walls. Like Wormcode said you need to isolate the sub from the floor which will give you a tighter bass sound, less physical vibration and probably will mean you don't need the sub as loud to hear it.

You can do this by getting one of those Auralex sub isolation pads, or make your own using a few layers of concrete blocks with a layer of anti-vibration foam in between.

Also as mentioned, you should probably only use the sub for referencing rather than all the time!
