**URGENT!!** Recovering saved over Cubase project!?

Post by Bass_Jacka » Fri Jun 14, 2013 1:16 pm

Anyone know if there's a way of recovering a project in Cubase once it's been saved over?

Sometimes when i start a new tune Ill just open up the most recent track I worked on and just delete all the samples etc, so that I have all the FX bus' etc set up already to save some time. But this time I deleted everything out of the track, started working on some new shit and hit save!

Now I've lost everything I done :x

Urgently need help with this one.

Sweet!

I've not used Cubase much, but FL Studio has a "history" quite like Photoshops and also auto saves projects and keeps a log of autosaves in a folder inside the application folder. I'd dig around the cubase directory or maybe temp files. This would also be a good question for their customer service : )

sorry to hear that m8. it's happened to me before. I suggest you get to working on recreating the project ASAP while it's still fresh in your mind.

I also do the same thing with my latest finished tune btw. great minds.

Preferences>General>Auto save

If that is on you might be able to find a backup somewhere. Check the Cubase directory or your main save location for .bak files. I don't know even if it's turned on it would have worked in your case, but it's worth a look.

Other than that there's nothing really that can be done. If you had just 'deleted' it, you could get it back since it's not actually removed right away, but once a file has been written over with new data on a hard drive, that is when it is truly deleted.

I have a template with a bunch of audio channels set up with EQs and sends to group channels ready to go.
so you can just go:
new project
my template

bam!

not sure about getting back work that has been saved over. maybe try opening some .bak files? (as mentioned above)
they should be in the same folder you are saving the .cpr files.
you ight have to select "Open a different file type".
