Maschine Pad Problem - Video Included

Post by GV1 » Thu Jun 13, 2013 7:54 pm

Just wondering if anyone has this problem with Maschine. When I hit a pad sometimes you can here it triggering multiple times even though I'm only pushing the pad once. I noticed this on the Jeremy Ellis videos (Maschine Virtuoso) when he was hitting the Hi-Hats so I hope I'm not alone with this.

If you watch the video, at certain intervals you can here the kick repeat like a machine gun sort of sound. I have the kick set to 1 voice, and the pad sensitivity on the lowest it can go. I also have it set to full velocity.

Any way to solve this issue?

Ive never ever had this problem. Been rocking Maschine for a while now. Do have the beat repeat/note repeat on or something? Kaybe try reinstalling? Do have any idea if its hardware or softwate issue?

I'm going to try it as midi controller in Abelton with a drum rack. If it still repeats then I know it's a hardware issue. I'm hoping it's not a hardware problem because I can't afford another Mashine. Was going to get a Push next week, but if this thing fucks about I'll have to put it on hold.

Cant say ive ever had this problem either. Maybe try adjusting the sensitivity? Also, i dont know if its just the camera, but looks like a lot of shaking going on when your hitting the pads. My Maschine is resting on a piece of concrete on a rock solid table. Maybe if its vibrating you might be re triggering on accident.

I had it resting on one of those foot rests you get with the sofa. Tried it on the floor, same problem.

I'm reluctant to believe it's a hardware issue because it's not happening constantly. Sometimes it can work fine. I am going to see if it's the USB lead. I'm also installing it on my other computer to check to see if it's maybe an issue with the controller software, or an issue with the computer.

I also recall having this issue on my MPC too (a very common issue). So maybe it's a technique issue. If I hit the pads center it rarely happens. It happens all pads too, not just one. I'm going to find the part on the Jeremy Ellis videos where it happens to him too.

Not to burst your bubble, man, but it can be a hardware problem even if it's not doing it all of the time. I've had pads go "half bad" on a midi controller before. And a hardware groovebox.

But here's hoping it's a software issue! I'd hate to think I might run into this down the road.

Do you pound on the thing pretty good. I feel like I'm pretty easy on mine. The default sensitivity works for me really well.

I installed Mashine software on my MacBook Air to test and I've had no issues thus far.

I've had a similar issue with my MPC 2500, but MPC's are prone for it even when there isn't any hardware issue.

Cool man. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Never owned an MPC...but had to have a button fixed on my ESX.

I've had the maschine apart this morning because it started doing it again. I've tested the pads whilst it was apart and it happens much less. Probably one in 500 pad hits. But I think I know what the culprit is. It looks like the membrane is a little dirty. It has imprints from the the pad connections on the board. Maybe that is causing a slight measurement in thickness of the pad membrane causing it to fire twice on occasions. Or maybe the membrane needs replacing but I have no idea where to get one of them from.

I'm going to try and give it a clean. What's the best think to clean that with? Just a dry clean cloth?

The membrane parts just get any muck off with a dry cloth, for the contacts either buy contact cleaning solution or just use rubbing alcohol

Defiantly a faulty Maschine Cleaned it, put it all back together and it's still happening.

It's probably worth contacting NI to see if they will repair it or what it would cost. It's possible a local electrical repair person might be able to do it as well. Defo going to be using a dust cover on mine from now on. That's a fucking bummer, man.

I bought it brand new about 2 years ago but it's not had that much use to cause an issue.

Here is a perfect example of what's happening from a finger drummer, it's an NI promotion video. I use mine for finger drumming and this is what happens to me.

Skip to about 1.47 it happens on his kick drum at 1.52 or something. It's happening quite a lot there and he's only hitting the pad once.
