DISTORTION

Post by ezza » Sun Jun 23, 2013 6:53 pm

really into it atm

any of you guys use it alot?

i really wanna try out a few track where everything is distorted pretty much. but just wacking a distortion plug-in on your master dont work aswel as id hoped lol

so yeah, anyone got any techniques to achieve this sound (examples below). Sounds like heavy compression is a big part aswel

maybe even some hardware, getting the korg volca series soon so might have a look for some distortion pedals - can pick up guitar ones pretty cheap second hand :)

+1 on the Big Muff! It is an awesome distortion pedal, especially for a huge 90's Grunge guitar sound.

Long 808 kicks distorted, pitched up and down to create melodies. Like Dillinja used to do in some of his tunes.

yo man you dont need gear to get the distorted sound lol, just put distortion on some of your elements, not on the master thats gonna sound shit haha.

Sometimes though it may be worth puting disortion on a bus, sometimes i bash out a drum beat but all on the same channel, with a distortion it means that the elements react off each other a bit more then

ohmicide is my normal go to distortion, but it takes quite a while for me to dial in the effect that i want.

i want a simpler distortion unit for those times when i don't need such a big amount of control over the sound. any suggestions?

jesus christ, the adagio for strings... forget brick wall limiting, try "inpenetrable wall of diamond" limiting

Love distorting kicks. Also love using reasons scream 4 tube setting D: lush. then slam loads of tape distortion on it which like heavily compresses the sound. Obviously in parralell though or you just get a rubbish sounding flappy kick.
