I used Reason 3 for a school project and wasn't pleased with several things regarding the sequencer and the lack of a default patch for the synths. I found it fun otherwise.

FL, which I use, has far too many volume knobs, its easy to get lost.
I make music, and I came here to discuss it. If you want to hit me up on skype, its jimbo_tulpa_slice, and my FB is Logan Patchwirk Winterhelt.

Also, why do people always put Skrillex and deadmau5 together and think it would be awesome, it wouldn't.

Reason's automation is much more efficient than most DAWs, i love the fact that it's stored in clips. That makes it so easy to copy, chop up, stretch (really handy) and stuff like that.

As for the routing. Most people not familiar with reason look at reason and are like "oh hey, you can see the audio cables, that's cool i guess". But you can do an endless amount of things with this. The CV cables make modulation so easy and you can really just rout any knob to any other knob without automating or anything. Crazy things can come from that.

Also i've come to really like the new SSL mixer and the factory and orkester sound banks.

Oh, oh, oh!! The ReGroove mixer kicks every other groove/swing/shuffle option in the butt.

Sending a return back to the same reverb fills up the mix engine real nice and you get that warm digital distortion.
Like diode clipping.

Apart from stretching the automation (which im not sure is possible in fl), it sounds like anything fl can do. The routi g in reason is pretty special, but I havent been convinced it's that great that a switch from another daw is attractive

Doesn't reason 7 support 3rd party?

yeah but not vst, so it depends on developer support.

Not really though, second party at most, and usually closely working together with propellerhead. They claim to give away the SDK when asked for it, but i've sent applications and either they were too busy or i just got no response.

Reason doesn't have dubstep basses in its collection, so its useless. /s

I found the way the Redrum works in R5 kind of silly, where if you play the sequencer but you have an instance of Redrum set to run the pattern it will play over the what you're playing in the sequencer, which is annoying if you have another pattern in the sequencer already.

I also don't like Ableton's default colour scheme. Also, does it have a drum machine?

So turn off the redrum playback? ...

And you can manually change the ableton skin or just download skins or use the ones that come with ableton. And yes it has a drum machine which takes any sampler, instrument or midi effect as pads. Quite powerful actually.

i use fl studio caus when i was DAW shopping it was the cheapest. (yeh, i didnt look that hard beyond cubase, ableton, acid, and some other top end ones).

I've tried ableton and after using FL for a while that shit is rocket science mixed with open heart surgery and nuclear chemistry.

I love FLS....but
What I hate about FL Studio users is 80% of them are 15 yr olds who constantly brag about being a producer (and suck). I dont mind kids/teens interested in producing its just the ones who are like this:
http://www.facebook.com/notes/jwok-muzi ... 5104008422

And why is it that FL Studio is the #1 daw for piracy among kids??!?!?? Dont they know skrillux uses Ableton? :6: I mean seriously, most FLkids are those who wanna make the filfy wobs like their boy skrillex. How do they figure to download FL rather than Ableton
