On subject though, Townes Van Zandt rates as by far one of the best songwriters of the 20th century and at his best wrote far better music than Bob Dylan

See while I just said I prefer a load of Townes' stuff Dylan is still great. I don't get how his voice is bad enough to put people off. It fits a bunch of tracks he's written. What did you try listen to to get into him?

nothing in particular but my dad loves him so he's often listening to stuff about the house or in the car

Dylan's voice is an acquired taste, but it's actually perfect. He sings as if someone's turned his portmanteau knob turned right up... he's always heading to exactly the right note, but he doesn't always have time to quite make it.

His recording of Moonshiner is one of the most sacred noises ever to make it into a microphone.

I'm gonna need some Townes Van Zandt recommends, Wolf. :Q:

the self-titled Townes Van Zandt is very good. I think it might have been wolf who recommended that to me haha
