Haha, yeah... I'd layer it too, this is almost just everything out of massive, was just asking if this is what the OP wanted :3.

Well, after finishing the massive patch and adding some distorsion I've recorded a "shot" of the bass into a new track, then bounced it into a sampler and added some extra effects right there and just played with the notes length, otherwise it would sound shit on the original patch lol

this is literally the easiest sound in the world to make

just make any bass with a sharp attack arrange it in very short 16/12 notes

then distort
distort again
maybe some more distortion
you couldnt go wrong with a tiny bit more you know what

then you get this Soundcloud

I see people saying it's "easy" and so on but out of everything that has been posted (except the remix someone posted in page 2 i can't remember the name), everything sounds pretty weak.

Don't get me wrong, I also have a lot of trouble making a nice machine gun bass, but your results are far from this :

Some say pitch ramp LFO, some say filters, some say volume, i'm confused.
Ofc you can probably do it several ways but I wonder for example how it was done in the track I posted.

And I know Sadhu is on DSF, so if by chance you see this, please tell us more.

It's all about processing really, not to brag or anything, but I really like my result, you can't really get the wavetables right, 'cause they're distorted as fuck.

They sound pretty nice man, mind sharing some tips? (especially on the modulation) :)

there is no way you will ever be able to copy the machine gun bass from another track and get it sounding the same, the "machine gun" effect just comes from very quick stutters

in this tune i just made some really distorted basses using massives scream and bandreject filters
i exported it and brought it back in via FL Slicer which i set to "sharp" slicing
then i played around with the different slices to find cool sounding bits

the arrangement looks like this

Image

but really its all about distorting any synth then repeating it in very fast, short stutters

PS. I uploaded a newer version of that tune if anyone wants another listen, its in my sig now :6:

feel free to ask more questions, although theres not really any more I can say

I mean yeah, making some really distorted noise and stuttering it works, but there is something else.
Is it the pitch? Listen to the different ones in this VIP.
It's clearly something more than just stuttered random noises, but I can't figure out what it is.
Sounds awesome.

there is nothing else. its literally just distortion.
like i said you will never be able to exactly recreate this sound because you don't know what waveforms they started with and distortion sounds very different on even slightly different waveforms.

Isn't it pitched though?
Some people mentioned that earlier in this thread.

yeah i kind of thought that example sucked. i liked how in tetsuo's tracks you could really hear more of the pitch of the synth, rather than just chopped up distorted samples. They sound like static/white noise chopped into 16th notes.

Definitely wouldn't bother with pitch modulation unless u want it to be like a "laser" cuz that's the effect youll get from modding the pitch.

you can always use massive's performer or just rampdown LFO. assign it to volume, filter cutoff, or intensity on a formant wavetable. no biggie. Another good example is skream's new freebie "Mood to Funk" . Just make that fucker and speed up the rate if you want it to be more some rapidfire bznizz

I've been trying to get that machinegun sound for sometime. This is what I came up with. The track is still in arrangement phase.
I haven't even mixed anything properly yet. :P
Okay, what I did basically is used two oscillators in massive chrome and wicked. Bandreject for filter and applied a performer lfo on both the oscillator's cuttofs. That, and massive's brauner tube and eq to make it fatter.
Bounced it. Added it into two instances of sample. Put ohmicide to add more distortion on one of them and the other instance is just layered to add more elements to the sound. Basically changing the starting point of the bounced clip to find that sweet spot.

Here's what is useful when making the sounds:

I make music, and I came here to discuss it. If you want to hit me up on skype, its jimbo_tulpa_slice, and my FB is Logan Patchwirk Winterhelt.

Also, why do people always put Skrillex and deadmau5 together and think it would be awesome, it wouldn't.
