Almost half of our Pro studio customers at the shop either have Avantone mixcubes or Equator D5's. Both speakers are truely terrible to actually write on, but have an flat, inflated midrange, which is normally the area where many home monitors have noticable peaks and dips, so great for comparisons. The Samson C-control and SM Pro M-Patch 2 are both cheap (£100 ish) ways of monitor switching between pairs.
