Why when the sun comes out, do girls insist on wearing maxi-dresses??

In winter they're there in their tiny skirts with their bums hanging out, then in summer as soon as the sun comes out they wear a totally long and stupidly lengthed skirt to cover everything up.

Come on Wub, youve had a girlfriend for a while, im SURE you know what a maxi dress is. Basically its a dress that goes all the way to the floor.

Just Googled it, not the sort of thing my missus wears I'm afraid. Also any 'fashion' magazines around the house are in Spanish so I'm not down with the terminology
